Skin color will generally fade over time. This can certainly make the skin look different. To darken the skin, you need to prepare and clean the skin first. After that, apply a dark polish, oil, or dye. If you want to darken the skin, the method is quite simple as long as you follow the right steps and use the right material.
Step
Method 1 of 4: Preparing the Skin
Step 1. Remove adhering dust using a vacuum cleaner or brush
Before darkening the skin, you need to clean the dust and dirt that sticks so that it doesn't seep into the skin. Use a vacuum cleaner or a brush to remove the stuck dust.
Step 2. Drop a small amount of mild dish soap on a damp cloth
Drop dish soap on a cloth and then wet it with running water. Rub the cloth until it foams, then wring it out. Make sure the cloth is not too wet.
Step 3. Wipe the skin with dish soap and water
Wipe the entire surface of the skin in a circular motion. Continue to rub the surface of the skin until all parts are covered. By doing this, the dirt that has accumulated on the surface of the skin will be removed.
Step 4. Wipe the skin with a damp cloth
Wipe the remaining soap that sticks to the surface of the skin using a damp cloth or cloth.
Step 5. Let the skin dry by itself
Allow the skin to dry before applying any oil, polish, or dye. So that the skin does not crack, do not dry the skin in the sun. Once dry, the skin is ready to be darkened.
Method 2 of 4: Applying Oil
Step 1. Buy neatsfoot oil, mink oil, or leather honey
You can buy these oils online or at your nearest shoe store. These products are specially designed to condition and darken the skin. Other oils, such as olive oil, can make the surface of the skin look blotchy, so don't use this oil.
Step 2. Pour 1 tbsp of oil on a soft cloth
Take 1 tablespoon of oil and then pour it on one area of the cloth. You only need a small amount of oil, so don't wet the entire fabric.
Step 3. Rub the oil on the surface of the skin evenly
Rub a cloth that has been moistened with oil on the surface of the skin repeatedly. Apply the oil in an even layer. The skin will begin to darken. When the oil starts to run out, pour 1 tablespoon of the oil on the cloth.
Step 4. Let the oil dry overnight
When you're done applying the first coat of oil, let the skin dry overnight. After that, check the skin and make sure whether the color matches what you want or not.
Step 5. Reapply the oil to darken the skin
If the skin color is still not dark enough, moisten a cloth with oil and repeat the process. Allow the skin to dry before applying the next layer of oil.
You can apply as much oil as you like to get the skin tone you want. Remember, let the skin dry before applying the next layer of oil
Method 3 of 4: Applying Dye to Darken Skin
Step 1. Purchase leather dye
You can buy oil- or water-based leather dye online or at a leather clothing store. Read the instructions for use on the dye package before applying it. These two dyes will dry out the skin over time. Therefore, make sure you condition your skin with oil or conditioner after using the skin dye.
- Water based dyes are dissolved in water. Oil-based dyes are formulated with certain chemicals, such as dye reducers.
- Oil-based dyes are quite durable and do not peel off easily. Use a water-based dye if you may be recoloring your skin in the future.
Step 2. Wet a sponge or cloth with dye
Apply leather dye to a dry cloth or sponge. Using a sponge or soft cloth can prevent the appearance of scratches or scuffs caused by the brush.
When using leather dye, make sure you are in a ventilated room. This is done so that the dye chemicals that come from the dye are not inhaled
Step 3. Apply the first coat of leather dye in a circular motion
Rub the dye-soaked cloth on the skin in a circular motion. When you apply the dye, your skin will start to darken. Apply the skin dye evenly so that the end result is really even and neat.
Step 4. Allow the skin to dry for 24 hours
The skin dye may lighten as it dries. Place the leather in a room with a normal temperature and away from direct sunlight so it doesn't crack or peel.
Step 5. Apply the next layer of dye if the skin color is still not what you want
Once dry, check the skin and make sure it's the color you want it to be. If not, apply another coat of skin dye. Allow the skin to dry before applying the next coat. Keep doing this until the skin tone matches your taste.
Method 4 of 4: Applying Polish to Darken Skin
Step 1. Purchase a dark leather polish
Look for leather polish online or at a leather clothing store. Choose a polish that is darker than the skin.
Step 2. Apply the polish on a soft cloth
Place the cloth over the mouth of the polish bottle and turn the bottle upside down. This is done so that the amount of polish that sticks to the fabric is only as big as a coin.
Step 3. Wipe the surface of the skin in a circular motion
When applying polish to the surface of the skin, the skin will darken. Keep adding more polish to the surface of the leather until it is completely coated in polish.
Step 4. Blot the skin with a dry cloth
Use a dry cloth and then wipe the surface of the skin in a circular motion. This can help even out the coat of polish. Wiping the skin with a dry cloth can also help the polish seep into the skin. Continue to buff the leather with the cloth until the polish is smooth on the surface of the leather.
Step 5. Let the polish dry overnight
Allow the polish to dry and soak into the skin. If you want a darker skin tone, you can reapply the polish after the skin dries.
