If you have naturally blonde hair, congratulations, you are one of only 2% of the world's population who has it. But blonde hair can get darker after a while. If you want to keep your blonde hair as long as possible, there are several ways, both natural and commercial, that can help.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Preventing Yellow or Green Color From Appearing
Step 1. Apply purple shampoo
Several brands of purple shampoo--actually purple-colored shampoo--available at salons and cosmetic stores, are useful for preventing blonde hair from turning yellow.
- The “yellowness” of blonde hair is when the hair turns yellow or orange. This happens because the blue molecules in the hair fade and make the yellow and orange molecules appear stronger.
- Purple shampoo works to restore the blue molecules in the hair, preventing it from turning yellow.
Step 2. Install the filter on the base of the showerhead
Minerals in tap water can change the natural color of blonde hair to yellowish (due to iron content) or greenish (due to chlorine in the water).
The filter at the base of the shower helps prevent the two shades from forming; blocks the absorption of minerals into the hair and maintains the natural color of your hair
Step 3. Apply toner (temporary hair dye)
If your hair starts to turn yellow, visit a hair salon to get your hair dyed or you can buy this toner at a cosmetic store and do the treatment yourself.
- The toner enhances blues and purples and removes the orange and yellow colors that cause hair to turn yellow.
- Temporary color treatment at the salon costs at least IDR 200,000, 00.
- Hair dye at a cosmetic store costs around Rp. 100,000, - but the results may not be as good as a salon treatment.
Step 4. Wet hair before swimming
Spray your hair with tap or filtered water before swimming to protect your hair from the chlorine in the pool.
Make sure the water you use to wash your hair is not contaminated with chlorine. If yes, then the goal will not be achieved
Step 5. Use an acidic hair wash to treat a greenish tint
If your hair starts to turn green after swimming or because your bath water has high copper or chlorine levels, you can reduce this by using an acidic hair wash. This hair wash will remove chemical residues from hair care products and mineral build-up that affect hair discoloration.
- Mix cup (for short hair) to 1 cup (for long hair) apple cider vinegar with a glass of water. After using the shampoo, wash your hair with the apple cider vinegar mixture and leave it for about 5 minutes. Rinse again and style as usual.
- Dissolve 6-8 aspirins in a glass of warm water and wash your hair with the solution. Leave it for 10-15 minutes, then rinse to remove the solution.
Method 2 of 2: Keeping Hair Natural
Step 1. Apply lemon juice and sunbathe
To prevent dark hair, mix equal parts pure lemon juice and water or olive oil and spray it on your hair. Lemon juice diluted in water or olive oil will prevent dry hair, although this also causes the juice benefits to take longer to work.
- Bask in the sun for about an hour and the lemon will help your hair have a natural shine.
- Follow up with a softening treatment as lemon can dry out your hair.
- Do it several times a week until you get the desired color shades.
Step 2. Apply hydrogen peroxide and bask in the sun
Like lemon water, hydrogen peroxide helps lighten hair especially when exposed to the sun.
- Put hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle.
- Spray the liquid on your hair.
- Let the sun dry your hair.
- Apply hair softener afterward, as hydrogen peroxide can dry out hair.
- Do it every week until you get the desired results.
Step 3. Use a chamomile tea rinse
Chamomile tea--the same kind you drink--will give your hair a golden shine when used as a rinse.
- Boil a glass of water and add 5 bags of chamomile tea.
- Soak the tea for about 15-20 minutes.
- Cool the tea.
- After shampooing and softening, pour the tea into your hair or place the tea in a bottle and spray it through your hair.
- Let the tea absorb and dry your hair.
- Do it every day until you get the desired results.
Step 4. Use a chamomile tea mask
If you want a more intensive treatment, use chamomile tea as a mask instead of just a rinse.
- Bring a glass of water to a boil and add 4 chamomile tea bags.
- Soak the tea for about 15-20 minutes.
- Cool the tea.
- Mix 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt into the tea water (2 tablespoons is suitable for medium hair; if you have short hair, use less; if you have long hair, use more).
- Apply the mask to your hair and cover it with a headgear, plastic or, if you don't have either, use a towel.
- Leave for an hour, then wash with shampoo and apply with softener.
- Do this once or twice a week until you get the desired results.
Step 5. Add cinnamon to the softener
Cinnamon can naturally lighten hair without causing side effects.
- Grind 3 tablespoons of cinnamon. Fresh cinnamon is the best option but if you don't have it, you can use powdered cinnamon, which is widely sold.
- Mix cinnamon with a few spoons of hair softener. Mix until smooth.
- Apply evenly on hair. Cover your hair with a head covering, plastic or, if you don't have either, use a towel. Leave it for a few hours (or overnight).
- Wash your hair with shampoo and softener as usual.
- Do this several times a week until you get the desired results.
Step 6. Add honey to your hair softener
Honey can make hair brighter without damaging it, and as a bonus, honey is beneficial for both hair and scalp. However, honey works more slowly than other methods.
- Mix 1/3 cup honey with cup softener. Stir well.
- Apply evenly on hair. Cover your hair with a cap, plastic or, if you don't have either, use a towel.
- Wash your hair with shampoo and softener as usual.
- Do it regularly until you get the desired results.
