When you forget your computer password, email, or social media account, you can reset it directly through the system or application you use. In many cases, the password can be reset by answering a number of security questions, or by requesting an email with a link to reset the password.

Method 1 of 10: Reset Google Password

Step 1. Visit the Google Accounts login page at

Step 2. Click on “Need Help? ” under the sign-in section.

Step 3. Choose “I don't know my password
”

Step 4. Enter your Gmail address in the field provided and click “continue”

Step 5. Type the Google-given characters on the screen and click “Continue.”
”

Step 6. Enter the last password obtained via Google account
If you don't remember the previous password at all, click " I don't know."

Step 7. Follow the on-screen instructions to reset password with Google
Google may ask you a number of security questions that must be answered to prove your identity; e.g. phone number, pet name, current address, etc.

Step 8. Enter the new password for the Goggle account
The selected password can be used for all Google products with the same username.
Method 2 of 10: Reset Apple ID Password

Step 1. Visit the main “My Apple ID” page at

Step 2. Click on “Reset your password” on the right side of the webpage

Step 3. Enter your Apple ID and click “Next

Step 4. Select “Answer security questions” and click “Next
”

Step 5. Choose your date of birth and click “Next.”

Step 6. Answer all security questions that are displayed on the screen
You may be asked to answer what your favorite sport is, your favorite teacher, etc.

Step 7. Enter the new password and click “Reset Password
” Now your password has changed.
Method 3 of 10: Resetting Windows 8 Password

Step 1. Visit the Microsoft Live password reset webpage at live.com/password/reset account
Contact the system administrator to reset the password if the computer is in a specific region

Step 2. Select “I forgot my password” and click “Next

Step 3. Type your Microsoft account username and the characters shown on the screen

Step 4. Click “Next”

Step 5. Follow the instructions Microsoft gives you on the computer screen to reset the password
If you still can't get into Windows 8 because of an incorrect password, you'll need to reinstall Windows 8 on your computer
Method 4 of 10: Resetting Windows 7 Password

Step 1. Insert the password reset CD into the Windows 7 computer drive
- Contact the system administrator to reset the password if the computer is in a specific region or work unit.
- If the Windows 7 computer is not part of a particular region or work unit, and there are no other user accounts, then Windows must be reinstalled.

Step 2. Click “Reset password
” The Password Reset Wizard will appear on the screen.

Step 3. Click “Next” and select the drive where the password reset CD is inserted

Step 4. Click “Next”

Step 5. Enter the new password in the field provided, along with instructions to remember it

Step 6. Click “Next” then click “Finish
” Windows 7 password has now been reset.
Method 5 of 10: Resetting Mac OS X Password

Step 1. Insert the CD to install Mac OS X into the computer
If the computer is part of a domain, contact the system administrator to reset the password

Step 2. Restart the computer, press and hold the “C” key to launch the Startup Manager

Step 3. Select a language, and click the right arrow button

Step 4. Select the “Utilities” menu and click “Terminal”

Step 5. Type “resetpassword” in Terminal
If using Mac OS X v10.3, select “Reset Password” from the “Installer” menu

Step 6. Click on which Mac OS X CD you want to reset the password for

Step 7. Choose which user account to reset the password for

Step 8. Enter the new password in the field provided, then click “Save

Step 9. Exit the Startup Manager and restart the computer
Now the Mac OS X password has been reset.
Method 6 of 10: Reset Facebook Password

Step 1. Visit the main Facebook login page at

Step 2. Click “Forgot Password” which is located in the upper right corner of the Facebook session

Step 3. Enter the Facebook account username and click “Search.”

Step 4. Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the password
Facebook will send you an email with a link to reset and change your password.
Method 7 of 10: Reset Twitter Password

Step 1. Visit the Twitter website at

Step 2. Click “Forgot password?” under the sign-in section

Step 3. Enter your Twitter account email address or username and click “Submit.”
” Twitter will soon send you an email with a link you can use to reset your password.

Step 4. Open the email from Twitter and click on the link to reset password

Step 5. Enter the new Twitter password
The password has now been reset.
If the link fails to reset the password, repeat the steps to get a new email. The Twitter password reset email has an expiration date, and should be accessed immediately when resetting the password
Method 8 of 10: Resetting LinkedIn Password

Step 1. Visit the LinkedIn web login page at

”

Step 3. Enter the email address used for LinkedIn and click “Submit Address.”
” LinkedIn will send you an email with a password reset link.

Step 4. Open the email from LinkedIn and click on the link to reset the provided password

Step 5. Follow the on-screen instructions to create a new LinkedIn password
Reset your password within one day of receiving the email, as the link will expire after that time
Method 9 of 10: Reset Instagram Password

Step 1. Visit Instagram login page at

Step 3. Enter your username or email address in the fields provided

Step 4. Type the text that appears on the screen and click “Reset Password
” Instagram will send you an email with a link to reset your password.

Step 5. Open the email from Instagram and click the link to reset the password

Step 6. Follow the on-screen instructions to create a new password
Now your Instagram password has been reset.
Method 10 of 10: Reset Pinterest Password

Step 1. Visit the Pinterest login page at

” Pinterest will send you an email with a link to reset your password.

Step 4. Open the email from Pinterest and click on the link to reset the password
Step 5. Follow the on-screen instructions to create a new password
Your pinterest password has now been reset.
