Do you want to get wavy hair, but don't want to spoil it with curling irons? Luckily, there are a number of ways you can make your hair look beautiful and wavy without having to use a heater.
Step
Method 1 of 4: Preparing Hair
Step 1. Shampoo
Whatever technique you choose, wetting your hair is an important first step and should be taken. Wavy hair will look more beautiful if it is clean.
- Use shampoo to clean hair.
- Apply conditioner to the ends of your hair, not your scalp. That way, your hair will feel light and not limp.
Step 2. Dry and comb the hair
Remove excess water by wringing out hair with a towel. Leave your hair slightly damp as this will make the waves last longer.
- If your hair is very thick, use a blow dryer to remove some of the excess water. Leave your hair slightly damp, but not so wet that it drips.
- Detangling tangled hair will help create smooth waves that don't look tangled and messy.
Step 3. Apply conditioner without rinsing
Leave-in conditioner will make your hair smoother, stronger, and more supple. Start by rubbing a little conditioner, which is about 1 tablespoon because if you use too much, the conditioner will make your hair look limp.
- Apply the conditioner to several sections of the hair until it is evenly distributed from the roots to the tips.
- You can add more conditioner as needed.
Step 4. Consider using curling products
If your hair is so straight that it's hard to wavy, try using a texturing spray, moouse, or hairspray to keep the waves in your hair longer.
- Using the product on the underside of the crown can often make it less greasy or heavy.
- Bend down so that your hair falls down, then use your fingers to apply gel or spray the product to your hair.
Method 2 of 4: Braiding Hair
Step 1. Part your hair into sections
Your hair should still be damp while doing this step. The size of the braid will determine how wavy the hair will be. The bigger the braid, the looser the waves will be.
- If you want to create tight waves, part your hair into small sections for braiding.
- If you want to create loose waves, only part your hair into 4 or 5 sections.
Step 2. Braid sections of hair one by one
Take one section of hair and then part it into three. Hold the left side with your left hand, and the right side with your right hand. Meanwhile, tuck the middle between the two fingers of your dominant hand. Cross the right/left through the middle.
- First of all, bring the right side to the center. Thus, the side that was previously on the right is now in the middle.
- Now, bring the left side to the center so that the side that was previously on the left is now in the middle.
- Repeat the above steps until all sections of hair are braided.
Step 3. Tie the hair braid
Use a hair band or butterfly clip to secure the ends of the braid. Make sure the ties in the braid are strong enough that they won't come loose while you sleep or blow dry your hair.
Step 4. Braid another section of hair
Repeat the above steps on all sections of hair. Remember that only braided hair will be wavy.
- Start braiding as close to the crown of your head as possible so that the waves don't just form in the lower half of your hair.
- Braid as far as possible so that the ends of your hair no longer look straight when the braid is removed.
Step 5. Dry the hair
To maintain waves, allow the braid to dry completely before removing it.
- Use a hairdryer to dry the braids.
- Leave the braid overnight.
Step 6. Remove the braid
Carefully remove the braid to untangle the waves. Use your fingers to comb and untangle the waves. Don't brush your hair as this can tangle and damage the waves.
Step 7. Spray hairspray
If the waves in your hair straighten easily, spray a little hairspray to maintain it. Choose a hairspray that is not too hard so that the hair does not turn stiff or sticky.
Method 3 of 4: Using a Bun
Step 1. Part damp hair into sections
The more sections of hair, the tighter the waves you will get. Instead, part the top hair around the crown of the head as the top layer, and the hair on the bottom as the second layer.
- If you want to comb your hair in a certain direction after waving, be sure to prepare it before splitting your hair into sections.
- Part your hair into 10-12 sections to start. After trial and error, this number may increase or decrease depending on the length or texture of your hair.
Step 2. Take one piece to twist
Make a small bun from each section of hair. Start in a bun near your face so you can clearly see what you're doing. Then, continue towards the back.
Start the bun from the part near the crown of the head because if you start from the bottom, the layer of hair above it will be very annoying
Step 3. Twist the hair tightly
Twist a section of hair in a certain direction so that it is tightly twisted. Twisted hair will look like rope sticking out of your head.
- Twisted hair will form a tighter wave.
- Remember not to pull your hair too hard as this will break the hair shaft and make your head hurt.
Step 4. Make the bun
Twist the strands of hair around the roots so that they look like rolls or snail shells.
Step 5. Maintain the bun position
The size of the bun is determined by the length of the hair, and will affect how it holds its position. Around a large bun may have to be tied with a hair band.
- Use bobby pins to maintain a small bun. Pin the bobby pins vertically so that they support the bun evenly.
- Use a wide hair clip (duckbill clip) to hold the bun.
Step 6. Let the hair form waves
Hair must be completely dry before the bun is removed. Leaving the bun overnight while you sleep is the way to go. Drying your hair on a low temperature may also help, but the heat from the appliance may not reach the center of the bun.
Step 7. Remove the bun
Once the hair is completely dry, carefully remove each bun. Use your fingers to run through the hair and untangle the waves. Do not comb or brush your hair.
Use hairspray or gel to maintain waves throughout the day
Step 8. Done
Method 4 of 4: Using Sheets
Step 1. Cut the fabric into long sheets
First of all, prepare a few pieces of cloth with a length of about 10-12 cm and a width of about 2 cm. Prepare a sheet of cloth according to the density of the hair wave you want.
- To start, prepare 12 sheets of fabric, 6 for the top layer, and 6 for the bottom layer of hair.
- An old pillowcase or T-shirt can be a fairly inexpensive source of material.
Step 2. Part the hair
There are 6 sheets of cloth to be used around the crown of the head, and another 6 at the bottom. This means that there are two sections of hair on either side of the head, and two sections of hair at the back of the first layer of hair.
Pull a small section of hair away from your face. If the side of the head is split into 4, take one of them
Step 3. Roll one section of hair
Place a piece of cloth at the end of your hair, then roll it up. You may find it difficult to do this step at first, and your hair may end up sticking out. However, keep trying to tuck your hair in and curl it up.
Watching how to do it in the mirror will help you learn it
Step 4. Tie the sheet of fabric
Take both ends of the fabric and tie them together to hold the hair coils together. Make sure the ties of the fabric are strong enough that they don't come loose while you sleep, but also not so tight that they can't be untied the next day.
Step 5. Let the hair roll
Let your hair dry overnight while you sleep. In the morning, remove the curls to untangle them.
- Comb your hair with your fingers to style the curls so they look wavy. Do not use a comb or hair brush as this can tangle the hair.
- Spray hairspray to maintain the waves in your hair if your hair returns to its original shape easily.
Step 6. Try using foam curlers
If you have trouble curling your hair with a sheet, buy a curling sponge instead. The process is the same. However, instead of tying the sheets of fabric, you just need to attach a special hair clip.
- Unfortunately, some people feel uncomfortable or have difficulty sleeping while using this tool.
- Keep in mind that the size of the tool determines how tight or loose the resulting hair wave is. Large tools will produce loose waves.
Tips
- To make your hair more bouncy, move your hair up and down instead of using cream or gel.
- When using a hairdryer, be sure to keep it away from your head or you could burn your hair.
- To make your hair shinier, use a shine serum before braiding, bunting, or curling it. Then apply this serum again when the hair is removed.
- Make some braids on dry hair. Then, use a straightener / vise on the braid several times.
- If the bun is tied too tight and/or the section is too small, your hair will turn into curls, not just waves. Instead, make a large loose bun. In addition to feeling comfortable while you sleep, the waves produced will also look more natural.
- If you are using a hairdryer, use a detangling cream, heat protectant spray, and a large round brush. All of which will help make your hair wavy without damaging it.
Warning
- Make sure your braid or bun is tight enough, but not too tight to damage your hair.
- If conditioner doesn't work for your hair, use hairspray instead. Light hairspray is good to start with because hard hairspray can make your hair stiff.
- Apply a small amount of product first. You can add it as needed, but it will be very difficult to remove it from your hair without repeating the whole process.
