The Subscriber Identification Module card, or what is often abbreviated as SIM card is responsible for transmitting telephone services as well as wireless services between Android devices and wireless service providers. The exact method for inserting a SIM card into an Android device will vary depending on whether the SIM card holder is in the battery compartment or in a dedicated SIM card holder.

Method 1 of 2: Installing the SIM Card in the Battery Compartment
Step 1. Check and make sure that the Android device is turned off
Step 2. Open the battery compartment on your Android device
In most cases, the battery compartment can be opened and accessed by gently removing the back of your device using your fingertips.
Step 3. Lift and remove the battery from the Android device
Step 4. Insert the SIM card into the Android device, the gold side facing down
You can also refer to the diagram usually next to the SIM card holder for correct placement. This diagram will tell you whether the SIM card should be inserted with the bevelled angle facing in, or out.
Step 5. Put the battery back in the battery compartment
Step 6. Reclose the protective back of your device
Now your SIM card will be installed and ready to be used on the Android device.
Method 2 of 2: Installing the SIM Card Using the SIM Card Holder
Step 1. Check and make sure that the Android device is turned off
Step 2. Locate and identify the special place to insert the SIM card, which is usually located on the side of the device
Step 3. Insert the sharper end of the SIM card eject tool into the small hole next to the SIM card holder
Most manufacturers of Android devices will provide this tool with the purchase of the device.
Step 4. Gently remove the SIM card holder with your fingertips once the holder is pushed out of the device
Step 5. Place the SIM card into the tray provided so that the card fits in the tray in an even position
Step 6. Gently press the tray back into the Android device, until it snaps into place
Your SIM card is now installed and ready to use on your Android device.
