This wikiHow teaches you how to ignore WhatsApp messages by muting chats or disabling read reports. This guide is intended for the WhatsApp application with English settings.

Method 1 of 2: Mute Chat
Step 1. Open WhatsApp
This app has a green and white chat bubble icon with the handset inside. These applications are generally located on the home screen or menu.
This method will turn off notifications from group or individual chats. The message will still go into the chat, but the notification won't appear
Step 2. Touch Chats
Step 3. Touch and hold the chat
A row of icons will appear at the top of the screen.
Step 4. Touch the mute icon
This button has a speaker icon with a slash above it. This button is at the top of the screen.
Step 5. Choose a duration
You will not receive any sound or vibration notifications from this chat for the duration you have selected. You can choose 8 Hours, 1 week, or 1 year.
Step 6. Uncheck the “Show notifications” box
By doing this, you will not receive any on-screen notifications when you receive a new message from this chat.
If you still want to receive notifications on the screen (without sound or vibration), skip this step
Step 7. Touch OK
Notifications are now muted for the selected duration. By doing this, you can easily ignore incoming messages.
You can still see new messages that come in by selecting a chat from the “Chats” screen
Method 2 of 2: Disabling Read Reports
Step 1. Open WhatsApp

This method can help disable the feature that lets other users know if you've seen the message or not
Step 2. Touch
It's in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Step 3. Touch Settings
Step 4. Touch Accounts
Step 5. Touch Privacy
Step 6. Uncheck the box “Read receipts
This checkmark is in the “Messaging” section. Once the tick is removed, other users will not get the blue tick when you read their message. You also won't get a blue tick when another user reads your message.
