Sim characters with “Family” aspirations or aspirations will love having kids, and you may also want to get a child Sim character to control. The simplest scenario for having children in The Sims 3 is to "marry" a male Sim character with a female Sim character. Some non-human Sim characters can still get children who generally have the characteristics of both parent species. However, the zombie characters SimBot, Servo, and the mummy cannot have children
Step 2. Move both characters to a place that allows them to have sex or “WooHoo”
The "Try for a Baby" option is only available if there is an object that can be used to make love near the character. Some items offer a higher chance of getting pregnant than others (or certain traits in the baby). Here are some of the best items you can take advantage of:
- 100% chance of getting pregnant: Vibromatic Heart Bed (a heart-shaped bed from the High End Loft object package) - Babies born will have the character of “Excitable”
- 75% chance of getting pregnant: Normal bed
- 75% chance of getting pregnant: Sarcophagus (available from the World Adventures expansion)
- 50% chance of getting pregnant: Hot tub (from various expansions) - Babies born will have a “Hydrophobic” or “Party Animal” character
- 50% chance of getting pregnant: Tree house (from various expansions) - The character of the baby born will depend on the tree house used
Step 3. Bring the atmosphere to the characters you play
Have the two characters interact romantically near the selected item/object. When instructing the two characters to interact, pay attention to the context messages displayed on the screen. If the interaction goes well, the target Sim character will feel that the character you are playing is flirty (“Flirty”), attractive (“Alluring”), and ultimately very tempting (“Extremely Irresistible”). You need to reach the third stage (“Extremely Irresistible”) in order to have children with the target character.
You can control both male and female Sim characters
Step 4. Select the “Try for a baby” option
After the interaction between the two Sim characters reaches the "Extremely Irresistible" stage, select the "Try for a baby" option from the "Romance" menu. Both characters will move to the nearest object and “have fun” (with the sensors on the screen, of course).
- This option is not available if the family you are playing with already has 8 Sim characters.
- The possibility of getting pregnant can also be obtained from the " Woohoo " option, but the percentage is so small that this option is less reliable.
Step 5. Wait for signs of pregnancy
If a female Sim feels nauseous in the morning after making love to a male character, she is most likely pregnant. You can tell when the mood panel shows the status “Nauseous” and/or the character vomits in the morning.
- One way to determine if your character is pregnant is to click the " Go Here " option in any empty space. If you don't see the " Automatic ", " Run ", or " Walk " options, your character is probably pregnant.
- The short song that plays after the two characters finish making love also shows the character's pregnancy.
- If the character is not pregnant, re-order both characters to make love. You can do it as often as you want.
Step 6. Adjust the life of the mother during pregnancy
Pregnancy is easier in the world of The Sims than it is in the real world because it only lasts three days! However, you still need to prepare yourself for the following changes:
- On the second day, the signs of pregnancy appear more clearly in the mother. She will also get a few days of maternity leave (characters still get a salary), starting from the second day.

Sometimes some Sim characters give birth at home, while other characters call a taxi to go to the hospital. There is no significant difference between the two situations. However, babies born at home usually have a higher starting point of connection with their mothers.

Method 2 of 3: Adopting a Baby
Step 1. Start with a stable family
You can't adopt a child if the social worker has previously removed one character from the family (or the family you're playing with already has 8 Sim characters). If neither situation occurs, a Sim character in the young (or older) adult stage can adopt a child.
Step 2. Contact the adoption service
Click the phone and select the option " Call Services ", then select " Adoption Services ".

Step 3. Select the child
When adopting, you can choose a boy or a girl, as well as their age (eg baby, toddler, or child). You can also name the adopted child, although his last name is always the same as the last name of the Sim character contacting the adoption service.
The character and appearance of the child is chosen at random, but you can improve his character in the future with good upbringing
Step 4. Wait for the adopted child to arrive
Within an hour of play, the adopted child will arrive at your house. Baby and toddler Sim characters will be escorted by social workers, while child Sim characters will cycle to your home.
Method 3 of 3: Using Other Methods
Step 1. Have your character kidnapped by aliens
Male Sim characters in young adulthood or older have a 1/3 chance of getting pregnant when abducted by aliens. The baby born will be an alien baby and not attached to his father. Here are the steps to get a baby with this method:
- Install the Seasons expansion.
- Collect “Space Rocks” if possible (these objects usually appear randomly, but “Collection Helper” can speed up their appearance).
- Instruct the male Sim character to look at the stars at night outdoors using a telescope. Repeat this activity every night until he is kidnapped.
- If a character displays the status “Unexpected Weight Gain” on the mood panel upon returning to Earth, she is already pregnant. If not, try again.
Step 2. Ask the child from the well of desire
If you buy the world of Lucky Palms from the Sims Store, you can visit the wishing well. You can ask for a child from this well, but sometimes you get an evil child appearing from a black cloud. In other situations, you may even get a puppy or kitten.
Tips
- While not always mandatory, game expansion packs provide some additional ways or methods to increase the chances of getting pregnant. For example, the full night of the Supernatural expansion increases the chances of getting pregnant by 20%.
- You can increase your chances of having twins or triplets using the lifetime award “Fertility Treatment”, as well as some additional options from the Sims Store or other expansions (e.g. the “large family” request to genies from the Showtime expansion). However, be aware that caring for several babies at once is not fun.
- If you've installed the Pets expansion, there's a good chance you'll get an animal when you ask for a child from the wish well.
- Sim characters who are pregnant are usually very strong during their pregnancy. This character cannot die.
Warning
- If the mother is not happy during her pregnancy, the baby's character will be chosen at random, and it is possible that the character chosen is not a good character.
- If the baby is born unhappy for a long time, the baby will be picked up by a social worker. If there are multiple children in the family you play with, there is a good chance that they will be taken in, unless they are teenagers or older.
- Caring for babies takes a lot of time and money. This can be a serious challenge if both parents are poor or feeling depressed.
