This wikiHow teaches you how to open an Ender Dragon egg in the Minecraft game. This can be done in all versions of Minecraft by bringing the egg back to The End and hatching it there. While there was once a Minecraft mod that could be used to spawn and ride an Ender Dragon, it is now not compatible with the latest version of Minecraft.
Step
Step 1. Meet the requirements
If you want to unlock dragon eggs in Minecraft, you must first kill the Ender Dragon. In addition, you must also have a portal to return to The End. If the eggs you get are from a pedestal, you must also bring them with you.
Step 2. Gather the required materials
Some of the materials needed to incubate eggs include:
- 4 Ender Pearl - Kill Endermen as these creatures sometimes drop Ender Pearls.
- 2 Blaze Rod - Kill Blaze in the Nether as this creature sometimes drops Blaze Rod.
- 4 Ghast Tear - Kill Ghast as this creature drops Ghast Tear sometimes.
- 28 glass block - Make glass blocks by melting sand blocks in the furnace.
Step 3. Open the Crafting Table
Open the crafting interface by selecting Craft Table.
Step 4. Make the Blaze Powder
Place two Blaze Rods in the center of the crafting interface, then tap or click the stack containing 4 Blaze Powder. Next, click or tap the inventory to move the Blaze Powder into it.
On the console edition, scroll to the " Food " tab, select the Blaze Powder icon, then press the button X or A twice.
Step 5. Make 4 Eyes of Ender
Place 4 Ender Pearls in the center of the crafting interface box, place 4 Blaze Powder in the center left box of the crafting interface, then move the Eye of Ender to your inventory.
On the console edition, scroll to the "Tools and Weapons" tab, select the Clock icon, scroll down to the Eye of Ender icon, then press the button X or A 4 times.
Step 6. Make 4 End Crystals
Place 4 Eye of Ender in the middle square, place 4 Ghast Tear in the lower center box, then place 4 glass blocks in each of the remaining squares. When the purple End Crystal icon appears, move the item to your inventory.
In the console edition, scroll to the " Mechanisms " tab, select the End Crystal icon, then press the button X or A 4 times.
Step 7. Return to The End
Jump into the End portal to return to The End. If you don't have the End portal, create a new Eye of Ender and use this item to search for the End portal.
Step 8. Return the egg to its pedestal
In the equip bar, select the egg and place it on the top of the pedestal in its original place. You may have to build scaffolding made of dirt or other similar, easily crushable blocks to reach the top of the pedestal.
Step 9. Place the End Crystal
When looking at the base of the pedestal, you will see 4 different sides. You must place each End Crystal at the top of the center block on each side of the pedestal.
If you are making scaffolding out of dirt, destroy the scaffolding before you do this
Step 10. Wait for the eggs to hatch
After you place End Crystals, Ender Dragons will spawn again in about 20 seconds. At this point, you can fight back against the creature.
