This wikiHow teaches you how to add a keyboard (a keyboard in Hindi (the official language of India) to your phone's keyboard. You can use a Hindi keyboard on WhatsApp because the app supports a wide variety of keyboard types available on your phone.

Part 1 of 3: Adding a Hindi Keyboard to iPhone
Step 1. Open Settings app on iPhone
This app icon is gray and gear-shaped. You can find it on the Home Screen.
Step 2. Move the screen (scroll down) down and tap on General option
It's at the top of the "Settings" page.
Step 3. Move the screen down and tap on Keyboard option
This option is at the bottom of the " General " page.
Step 4. Tap on Keyboards option
You can find it at the top of the page.
Step 5. Tap on Add New Keyboard option
This option is at the bottom of the page.
Step 6. Move the screen down and tap on the Hindi option
The list of languages available on iPhone is arranged alphabetically. Therefore, you can find it under the letter "H".
If option Hindi appears at the top of the " SUGGESTED KEYBOARDS " list, you don't have to scroll down to find it.
Step 7. Click the Devanagari option
This option replaces latin letters with Hindi symbols on the keyboard. This way, you can directly type Hindi symbols without having to type in Latin letters first to create Hindi symbols.
Step 8. Tap the Done button
After that, you can choose a Hindi keyboard on the iPhone keyboard.
Part 2 of 3: Adding a Hindi Keyboard to Android Devices
Step 1. Open the "Settings" app on Android
The app icon is a gray gear and is most likely in the Android apps folder.
Step 2. Tap on Language & input option
You may have to scroll down to find the options.
On Samsung devices, you can find this option on the General management page
Step 3. Tap on the Virtual Keyboard option
If you're using an older version of Android, you can find these options in the "Keyboards & input methods" on the page Language & input.
Step 4. Tap the currently used keyboard
On some versions of Android, this option may be named Current keyboard (Current Keyboard).
- On Android Nougat, the default (default) keyboard used is Gboard (Google keyboard).
- On Samsung devices, the default keyboard used is Samsung keyboard.
Step 5. Tap on Languages option
Tapping on it will open a list of languages that can be used on the keyboard.
For Samsung keyboards, tap on Languages and types option and tap on Add input languages option
Step 6. Tap the button which is next to the “Hindi” text
You may have to deactivate the option first Use system language. This will download and install a Hindi keyboard on the keyboard.
For Samsung keyboards, tap the download button next to the text ️.
Part 3 of 3: Using a Hindi Keyboard
Step 1. Press the Home button on the phone
Pressing it will close the Settings app.
Step 2. Open WhatsApp
The app icon is green and contains a white phone icon.
Step 3. Tap the CHATS tab (Chats). This tab is at the bottom of the screen (on iPhone) or at the top of the screen (on Android).
When WhatsApp opens the chat screen, tap the "Back" button at the top left of the screen to view the "CHATTINGS" page
Step 4. Tap the contact
Tapping on it will open the conversation screen.
Step 5. Tap the text field
This field is at the bottom of the page and is used to type messages.
Step 6. Select Devanagari keyboard
Depending on the type of phone, there are different ways to choose a Devanagari keyboard:
- For iPhone - Press and hold the globe icon located at the bottom left of the keyboard. After that, move the menu up to find Devanagari keyboard.
- For Android - Press and hold the space key or the "Language" key located on the left side of the keyboard and tap the "Hindi" option.
Step 7. Type in the message
The keyboard keys and characters that appear on the screen will be in the form of Hindi symbols.
