This wikiHow teaches you how to delete photos sent via the Facebook messaging app. However, you cannot delete the photo from your friend's account or device.
Step
Step 1. Tap the blue chat bubble icon with white lightning to open Facebook Messenger
Step 2. Tap the conversation containing the photo you want to delete to open it
Step 3. Tap and hold the photo for a moment
You will see a menu on the screen.
To activate the menu on a device with 3D Touch, such as the iPhone 7, simply tap the photo slowly, instead of pressing hard
Step 4. Tap Delete
You will see a confirmation message.
Step 5. Tap Delete
The photo you selected will be removed from your conversation view.
- If you delete a photo you sent, your friend may still have a copy of the photo. However, anyone who accesses your Messenger account can't see the photo.
- As of February 2017, Facebook will no longer allow you to delete photos from the web version of Facebook, unless you delete the entire conversation.
