This wikiHow teaches you how to remove the Facebook Messenger app from your iPhone or Android device. Deleting the Facebook Messenger app will automatically log you out of your Messenger account on your smartphone, but you can still chat with Messenger users using the Facebook website. If you want to completely leave Facebook chats, you need to delete your Facebook account.

Method 1 of 3: On iPhone
Step 1. Look for the Facebook Messenger app icon
This app icon looks like a blue speech bubble with a white lightning bolt inside. You can find it on one of the device's home screens.
Step 2. Touch and hold the Messenger icon
After that, all the app icons on the home screen will start to jiggle.
Step 3. Touch X
It's in the upper-left corner of the Messenger app icon.
Step 4. Touch Delete when prompted
The Facebook Messenger app will be removed from the iPhone immediately.

Method 2 of 3: Using the Settings Menu (“Settings”) on an Android Device
Step 1. Open the device settings menu or “Settings”

Step 2. Tap Apps & notifications
It's at the top of the menu. You may need to swipe to see this option on some phones. After that, a list of applications installed on the computer will be displayed.
On some phones (e.g. Samsung Galaxy), this menu is labeled “ Apps ”.
Step 3. Select Facebook Messenger
Browse the available apps until you find Facebook Messenger, then tap the option.
You may need to touch the option “ See all apps " or " app info ” before being able to find Facebook Messenger.
Step 4. Touch UNINSTALL
This button is usually at the top of the screen.
If you only see the " DISABLE ”, touch the button.
Step 5. Touch UNINSTALL or OK when prompted.
After that, the Messenger app will be removed from the Android device.
Method 3 of 3: Using Google Play Store on Android Device
Step 1. Open
Google Play Store.

The selection will be confirmed and the Facebook Messenger app will be removed from the Android device.
