This wikiHow teaches you how to recover a TikTok account. If you can't log into your TikTok account, try some troubleshooting steps first. If your TikTok account still can't be recovered, you can try another method. If you forget the password, do a password reset to create a new TikTok password. If the account is deleted, you are given 30 days to reactivate the account before it is permanently deleted. If your account was blocked by TikTok, file an appeal and contact TikTok directly.
Step
Method 1 of 4: Recover Forgotten Password
Step 1. Launch TikTok
The icon is a musical note in white, red, and blue on a black background. You can find it on your home screen, app menu, or by doing a search.
Step 2. Touch Log in
It's at the bottom of the screen next to "Already have an account?".
Step 3. Touch Use phone/email/username
Use this option to sign in with your mobile number, email address, or username, and password.
If you created an account via social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Google, or Twitter, select the option to sign in with that account and sign in to TikTok using the account information. If you forget the password for that account, you will need to reset it using the social media platform
Step 4. Touch Email/Username
You can log into the account with the email address/username and password.
Step 5. Enter your username/email address, then tap Forgot password?
It is used to reset the password.
If you can't access the email address or mobile number you used to log into your TikTok account, use the feedback form to contact TikTok. You will need to enter an accessible username and email address. The email does not have to be the same one used to register for a TikTok account. Select the topic "General account inquiry". Briefly explain that you forgot your account password and you can't access your email address or phone number, and that you want TikTok to help. Click Submit. You may have to submit a new form every day until they respond. Visit https://www.tiktok.com/legal/report/feedback to access the feedback form.
Step 6. Touch Phone or E-mail.
You will receive a link to the password reset page. You can choose an email or text message on your phone to receive the link.
Step 7. Verify your email or mobile number, then touch Reset
It's a pink button below the field where you can enter your email or phone number.
Step 8. Open the email or text message sent by TikTok
Check the text message if you choose the phone to reset the password. If you choose an email to reset your password, check your inbox in the email. You will get a message from TikTok.
If there's no message in your email inbox, try checking your Trash or Spam folder. If it's not there either, wait a moment and check again
Step 9. Click or touch the link in the email or text message
The password reset page will open.
Step 10. Enter the new password and confirm it
Type the new password in the first column and repeat it in the second column with the exact same password to confirm.
Step 11. Touch Reset
Your password will be reset so you can now log into your TikTok account with the new password.
Method 2 of 4: Recovering a Deleted Account
Step 1. Launch TikTok
The icon is a musical note in white, red, and blue on a black background. You can find it on your home screen, app menu, or by doing a search. If deleted, the TikTok account becomes inactive within 30 days. You can restore it at any time during this time. If 30 days have passed, the account will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
Step 2. Touch Log In
It's next to "Already have an account?" at the bottom of the screen.
Step 3. Touch Use phone/email/username
With this option, you can sign in with your mobile number, email address, or username, and password.
Step 4. Log into your TikTok account
After logging into your account, you will be notified that the account has been deactivated. If you can't sign in to the account, it may have been permanently deleted. Do one of the steps below to sign in to your account:
-
Using mobile number:
Touch tab Phone at the top. Enter the mobile number and touch Send code. Get the code in your phone's text message, and enter the code.
-
Using email/username:
Touch tab Email/Username. Enter the email address and password associated with the account, then touch Login.
Step 5. Touch Reactivate
Doing so will reactivate the account.
Method 3 of 4: Recover Blocked Account
Step 1. File an appeal
If the account is blocked, you will be notified via the TikTok app or email. View the notifications in TikTok by touching the tab Notifications in the below section. This notice contains the option to appeal your account ban. Click or touch the option, then fill out the form. Explain the reason why the account is not eligible to be blocked or why an error occurred that caused the account to be blocked. TikTok will review your appeal and decide whether or not to reactivate the account.
Step 2. Create a new backup account
By creating a backup account, you can keep in touch with your loyal followers when your main account is suspended and let them know of the problem. You can also send feedback to TikTok with the backup account. If TikTok still won't reactivate the account, you've got a new account to start over. You may be frustrated, but this may be the only option you can choose.
Step 3. Submit the feedback form to TikTok
This form can be accessed at https://www.tiktok.com/legal/report/feedback. Enter the username and email address. Select the topic "Account ban/suspension". Explain the reason why the account is not eligible to be blocked. You may have to do this over and over and submit multiple forms to get a response from TikTok. However, do not submit more than 1 form within 24 hours.
Step 4. Contact TikTok directly via email
In addition to submitting a feedback form, you can also contact TikTok directly via email. Make sure you include your username and explain the reason why your account doesn't deserve to be banned. Do this repeatedly by sending several emails until they respond. TikTok's email address is [email protected].
Step 5. Have your followers and other content creators contact TikTok
This will be very useful if you have a lot of followers. Use a backup account or ask your followers to invite other users to contact TikTok through their accounts. Explain that your account has been blocked and provide instructions to other users on how to contact TikTok to request that your account be reinstated. TikTok will most likely respond if multiple users send messages requesting that your account be reinstated.
Method 4 of 4: Troubleshooting
Step 1. Restart the mobile device
If you can't access your account, TikTok suggests a few steps you can try before you try anything else. The first step is to restart the device. Turn off your tablet or phone, then turn it back on. Now, try to access your TikTok account again.
Step 2. Check internet connection
Check the status bar at the top of the device screen. Make sure you get a good Wi-Fi signal. If you are using 4G or 5G, make sure the signal bar is sufficient. If 4G or 5G doesn't work, try connecting the device to Wi-Fi. If Wi-Fi doesn't solve the problem either, check to see if any other app or device is experiencing the same problem. If the Wi-Fi service is having problems, try unplugging the router or modem for about 20 seconds, then plugging it back in and allowing the device to boot. If the problem doesn't go away, contact your internet service provider.
Step 3. Clear the cache of the TikTok app
If you can't sign in or access the videos, the app cache may need to be cleared. Clear the app cache by performing the following steps:
- Run TikTok.
- Touch Me in the lower right corner.
- Tap the three dots icon in the top right corner.
- Scroll down the screen, then touch Free up space.
- Touch clear next to " Cache ".
- Touch clear next to "Downloads".
Step 4. Wait for a while and try again
Sometimes there is a problem with the server or there is a routine maintenance that makes some servers not working properly. This will prevent you from accessing your account and videos for a while. Wait a few hours and try again later.
Step 5. Contact TikTok
If you still can't sign in or access your account after a few hours, you may need to contact TikTok. Contact TikTok by visiting https://www.tiktok.com/legal/report/feedback. Fill in the form provided and select the topic "General account inquiry". Don't forget to enter the correct TikTok username, as well as a valid email address. Describe the problem you're having, then click Submit. You may have to do this repeatedly by submitting several feedback forms until TikTok responds.
