WhatsApp lets you see a contact's online status, and their last time using the app. While you can't access the online status of all your contacts at once, you can easily check the status of a specific contact.

Step 1. Open WhatsApp
Step 2. Tap Chats
Step 3. Tap the conversation with the person you want to check online status
If you don't have a conversation with the person, you'll need to open a new conversation by tapping the chat bubble icon in the upper-right corner of the screen
Step 4. View the online status of the contact
If the contact is online, you'll see an "online" status below their name. Otherwise, the status will read "last seen at…"
- “Online” means that the contact is using WhatsApp.
- “Last seen at…” indicates the last time the contact used WhatsApp.
- If the contact is trying to reach you, you may see an action status, such as “typing” or “recording audio”.
