This wikiHow teaches you how to remove the Google Chrome web browser from your computer or smartphone. If you're using an Android device, you usually can't uninstall Google Chrome because the app is the device's primary browser. However, you can disable it so that the app is hidden from the page/app drawer of the device.
Step
Method 1 of 4: On Windows Computer
Step 1. Close the active Google Chrome window
Windows cannot uninstall Chrome if the browser is still running. Therefore, close the program so that the problem does not occur.
Step 2. Open the “Start” menu
Click the Windows logo in the lower-left corner of the screen.
Step 3. Open “Settings”
Click the settings gear icon in the lower-left corner of the “Start” window. After that, the “Settings” window will be displayed.
Step 4. Click Apps
This option is in the “Settings” window.
Step 5. Swipe the screen and click on Google Chrome
You can find the Google Chrome option in the "G" section of the list of installed apps.
If you don't see Chrome options, make sure the list is sorted by name by clicking the " Sort by " option and selecting " Name ”.
Step 6. Click Uninstall twice
Click the button Uninstall ” below the Google Chrome name, then click the back button when it appears above the program name.
Step 7. Click Yes when prompted
Now Google Chrome can run its uninstall program.
Step 8. Click Uninstall when prompted
After that, Google Chrome will be removed from the computer.
- You may want to delete browsing history in Chrome by checking the "Also delete your browsing data?" box.
- If you see an error message asking you to close Chrome, skip to the last step of this method and try uninstalling the program again.
Step 9. Force close Chrome if necessary
If you receive an error message saying that Google Chrome is still running, even after all windows are closed, follow these steps before deleting Google Chrome:
- Press the Ctrl+⇧ Shift+Esc key combination to open the Task Manager program.
- Click the tab " Processes ”.
- Click " Google Chrome ” in the main window.
- Click " End task ” in the lower-right corner of the Task Manager window.
Method 2 of 4: On Mac Computer
Step 1. Close Google Chrome
Hold down the Control key while clicking the Google Chrome icon that appears in your computer's Dock, then click “ Quit ” in the pop-up window that appears.
- If Google Chrome is closed, you will not see the option “ Quit ” on the menu.
- You may need to confirm your selection.
Step 2. Open
Finders.
Click the Finder app icon that looks like a blue face in the Dock.
Step 3. Click Go
This menu is at the top of your computer screen. Once clicked, a drop-down menu will appear.
Step 4. Click Applications
This option is in the drop-down menu. After that, a list of applications installed on the computer will be displayed.
Step 5. Search for Google Chrome
Google Chrome is marked with red, green, yellow, and blue icons. You may need to swipe up to see this icon.
Step 6. Move Google Chrome to Trash
Click and drag the Chrome icon to the Trash icon in the lower-right corner of the screen, then release. After that, Chrome will be removed from the Mac computer.
If you get an error message saying Chrome is still running, skip to the next step before trying to delete the app again
Step 7. Force close Chrome if necessary
If you receive an error message saying that Chrome is still running, even after you close it, follow these steps before deleting the app again:
- Press Option+⌘ Command+Esc simultaneously.
- Choose " Google Chrome ” from the pop-up window.
- Click " Force Quit ” in the lower-right corner of the pop-up window.
- Click " Force Quit ' when prompted.
Method 3 of 4: On iPhone
Step 1. Find the app
Google Chrome.
The browser is marked by a yellow, green, red, and blue ball icon.
Step 2. Touch and hold Google Chrome
The app icon will jiggle after a few seconds.
Step 3. Touch X
It's in the top-left corner of the Google Chrome icon.
Step 4. Select Delete when prompted
It's a red button on the right side of the pop-up window. Chrome will be removed from iPhone afterwards.

Method 4 of 4: On Android Device
Step 1. Open the Android settings menu (“Settings”)

Step 2. Touch Apps
This option is in the “Settings” menu. A list of applications installed on the Android device will be displayed.

"Chrome".
Swipe until you find the red, yellow, green, and blue Chrome ball icon, then tap the icon.

This option is below the " Google Chrome " heading that appears at the top of the screen.
If you see the option “ DISABLE ”, Chrome cannot be removed from the device. To disable and hide Chrome, touch “ DISABLE " and select " DISABLE ' when prompted.
Step 5. Touch UNINSTALL when prompted
After that, Chrome will be removed from the Android device.
