This wikiHow teaches you how to stop saving search and search activity on your Google account via Chrome. There is no option to stop logging of local browsing data on the computer. However, you can disable logging of data on online accounts.

Step 1. Open the Google Chrome browser on the computer
The Google Chrome icon looks like a tricolor circle with a blue dot in the middle.
Step 2. Click the profile icon
This icon looks like your Google profile photo icon in the top right corner of the new tab page (“New Tab”). A drop-down menu will appear after that.
- If you didn't upload a profile photo, this button will display your initials.
- If Chrome shows a page other than the new tab page or “New Tab”, just open a new tab to see the button.
- If you're not logged into your Google account on Chrome, you'll see a “ Sign in " is blue. If available, click the button and log in to the account.
Step 3. Click My Account
It's a blue button in the drop-down menu. The “My Account” page for your Google account will be displayed.
Step 4. Click Manage your Google activity in the “Personal info & privacy” section
This option is in the middle column of the “My Account” page.
If you don't see the option, click " Personal info & privacy ” at the top. After that, look for options on the left navigation pane.
Step 5. Click GO TO ACTIVITY CONTROLS
This option is printed in blue in the “Activity controls” section. You can find it on the right side of the page. After that, the “Activity controls” page will load.
Step 6. Slide the “Web & App Activity” switch to the “Off” position
This switch is blue when active. You need to confirm the action on the new pop-up window.
Step 7. Click PAUSE on the pop-up window
The action will be confirmed and the “Web & App Activity” switch will be disabled. The switch color will change to gray. Now, Chrome will not save browsing and search data on your Google account.
