Most people choose dry food for their pet dogs. This feed is easy to store, does not take up space, and does not spoil quickly compared to wet meat food. However, sometimes dogs do not like dry food or grain feed. Maybe your dog doesn't like the taste/texture of the feed, or has a toothache that prevents him from chewing dry food. Start choosing the healthiest and tastiest dry food so your dog likes it and gets the health benefits of it.

Step

Step 1. Add water to the dog's plate

Some dogs don't like the texture and hardness of dry food. In this case, you can pour a little water on the dog's plate until it softens. The water provided should be sufficient to soften the feed, but not to drown it. Try mixing 1/6 cup of water with one cup of dog food. Leave it for 1 minute before giving it to the dog. Thus, the feed will absorb water.

Step 2. Add the delicious broth to the dog's plate

This tactic is similar to the water method, but you must add flavor to your dog's feed. Try using cubes of low-salt broth, meat stock, or fish stock. Don't use high-salt ingredients, such as most yeast-based products like bread jam. Dogs can't digest a lot of salt so their kidneys are burdened when forced to eat it.

Do not use broth instead of food. The nutritional content is not the same as dry feed

Step 3. Mix with the broth

Buy Swanson or chicken, beef, or natural plant gravy low sodium content. Choose a sauce that does not contain onions because it is toxic to dogs.

Pour in about a tablespoon of gravy per cup of dry feed, and stir until the gravy soaks in and the dog food softens. Your dog will like the food even more. You can warm the gravy in the microwave, but don't let it get too hot

Step 4. Slice -1/3 banana (depending on size) into small pieces, or mash until soft, and mix with dog food

Not all dogs like bananas, but some do. Bananas are rich in potassium, fiber and magnesium.

Step 5. Add herbs

Dogs have a sense of taste like humans. Therefore, dogs also like the added flavor of herbs. The herbs will give off a fragrant aroma that can lure your pet into eating its food.

Oregano is rich in antioxidants. Rosemary contains a lot of iron, calcium, and vitamin B6. Peppermint has powerful properties and helps dogs' digestion. Basil and parsley are also great antioxidants. Just sprinkle some herbs over dry feed and your dog will love it

Step 6. Add healthy liver to dog food

You can use Bil-Jac dog treats, which can be purchased at pet stores.

  • Crush two slices of treats and sprinkle them on dry feed. Add the liver and let the dog sniff the food. This is beneficial for dogs. Your dog will be healthier, and pets will get treats. Liver is rich in vitamins B, A, and K, and is a good source of iron. Dogs will inhale the aroma of their food.
  • However, do not give too much nutrition. In the long term, excess vitamin A in the liver can lead to a condition that holds the bones together. Don't give heart every day in the long run. The first week is still fine, but don't get used to it.

Step 7. Include hard-boiled eggs

Eggs are a great source of protein and are loved by many dogs. Egg whites are easier to digest after cooking, while egg yolks are richer in nutrients raw. Most dogs are able to digest the bacteria in raw eggs, but you can give them hard-boiled, undercooked, or omelettes.

One egg contains about 70 calories. This amount is adequate for a medium or large adult dog. For small dogs, give egg

Step 8. Add low sodium green beans

Use canned products to make it easier and tastier, but make sure you drain all the liquid in them before mixing them with dog food. Use low-sodium green beans. High-sodium foods are not good for all dog breeds.

  • First, put 1 tablespoon of chickpeas (without water) into the dog's plate and mix it with the grain feed.
  • If your dog likes these chickpeas, add another tablespoon.

Step 9. Include some crunchy feed

Try mixing 6-7 soup crackers with dog grain feed for added crunch so your dog likes it.

Otherwise, take a piece of bread and toast it a little, then crush it and mix it with dry dog food. Dogs will eat bread with dry feed, but may leave some. However, it is likely that the dog will finish it later because the smell of the bread still lingers on his plate

Step 10. Mix the carrots

Cook carrots, or buy canned carrots and mix a little with dry feed. Grated carrots can also be used. Carrots have a sweet taste and are loved by many dogs. This vegetable contains beta keraton and vitamins C, A, and K.

Step 11. Warm the dog food

In some cases, older dogs lose their appetite because their sense of smell is reduced. In that case, try warming the food in the microwave for only 15 seconds to increase the natural aroma of the food and make it easier for the dog to smell.

Step 12. Rebuke the dog's stubborn behavior, if necessary

Even older dogs can still learn new tricks. For example, one day your dog refuses to eat. This causes you to worry so you spoil the pet. You feed good food from the table, feed your dog, and praise when the dog eats food from your hand. Thus, your dog associates not eating his dry feed with getting a tasty human food and more attention.

Condition the situation if you believe the dog is in good health and feels like he is wooing you for tastier food and wants more attention. Put down the dinner plate and leave the room for 30 minutes. Don't give treats, and don't get too excited. It may be difficult for you at first, but eventually your dog will understand and eat normally

Tips

  • Make sure the food you buy is low in sodium. Feeds that contain a lot of salt will damage your dog's kidneys.
  • You can add water instead of broth to dry feed and stir until all the water is absorbed.
  • Handle food transitions gradually and carefully. If your dog doesn't seem to like your attempts to replace wet food with dry food, make the transition gradually; mix a little dry feed into his dinner plate and increase the amount little by little. Do it for about 2 weeks. Eventually, your dog will like dry food as they get used to its taste and texture.
  • You can mix and match the options above. Most dogs love liver treats so you can try them first.
