You can get chat history from Gmail on a computer by displaying the chat option in the settings menu (“Settings”), then selecting the “Chat” option from the Gmail menu. Keep in mind that you can't access your Gmail chat history on the mobile platform.

Part 1 of 2: Making Chat Visible
Step 1. Open the desired browser
To view chats from your Gmail account, you first need to enable the chat view option in the Gmail menu.
Step 2. Open a Gmail account
If you're not logged into your account, type in your email address and password.
Step 3. Click the gear symbol in the top right corner of the screen
After that, the “Settings” drop-down menu will be opened. This option is just below the profile photo icon.
You can also click “More Labels” on the “Inbox” menu. A drop-down menu with the “Chats” option in it will be displayed
Step 4. Select the “Settings” option on the drop-down menu
You will be taken to the “Settings” menu so that after that you can display the “Chats” option on the main menu.
Step 5. Click “Labels” in the top row of the “Settings” menu
You can edit the main “Inbox” options from this menu.
Step 6. Look for the “Chat” option and click on “Show” next to it
The chat option will be activated on the “Inbox” menu.
Step 7. Click the “Inbox” option to return to the account inbox
Now, you can view chats in Gmail!
Part 2 of 2: Viewing Chat History
Step 1. Open a Gmail account
If you're not logged into your account, type in your email address and password.
Step 2. Visit the “Inbox” menu
Step 3. Swipe the screen until you find the “Chats” option
With this option, you can view the transcription of Gmail chats for the account.
Step 4. Click the “Chats” option
Step 5. Observe the chat history displayed
You can click on a chat entry to view its content.
