This wikiHow teaches you how to delete photos on a Mac. You can easily delete photos by dragging them to the Trash icon, or using the Photos app on a computer. After dragging a photo to the Trash icon, you can empty the Trash folder to permanently delete the photo.

Method 1 of 2: Using Trash Bin
Step 1. Open a new Finder window
This app is indicated by a blue and white icon with a smiley face in the lower-left corner of the screen, in your computer's Dock.
Step 2. Locate the photo you want to delete
Click the directory containing the desired photo in the left column. Sometimes, photos that are on your computer are stored in the “Pictures”, “Documents”, or even “Downloads” folders. You can also click your Mac's computer name on the left and browse through your computer's system folders if you know the location of the folder.
If you're having trouble finding the photo you need to delete, try finding it using the search bar in the top-right corner of the Finder window
Step 3. Click and hold the file to drag the photo
Select a photo by clicking on it, then holding down the mouse button. While holding down the button, you can drag the photo to a new location by moving the cursor.
Step 4. Drag the photo to the Trash icon
The icon looks like the white trash can displayed in the Dock. Usually, the Trash icon is in the lower-right corner of the screen in your computer's Dock.
Step 5. Hold down the Control key and click the trash can icon
On the keyboard, hold down the " control " key, then click the Trash icon. You can also right-click the Trash icon if you want. If you're using a single-button Apple mouse or trackpad, you can click with two fingers instead of the right-click mechanism. A small pop-up menu will appear above the Trash icon.
Step 6. Click Empty Trash
A pop-up window with a warning will be displayed. Only empty the contents of the Trash folder if you are sure you want to delete everything in the folder.
Step 7. Click Empty Trash to confirm
All content in the Trash folder will be permanently deleted.
Once the folder is empty, you cannot recover deleted files
Method 2 of 2: Using Photos. App
Step 1. Open the Photos app
The icon looks like a colorful flower on a white background and is usually stored in the “Applications” folder. To access this folder, open a new Finder window by clicking on the blue and white smiley face icon, then select “ Applications ” on the left side of the window. Double click the app icon Photos to run it.
Step 2. Click Photos
This option is the first option in the left column, under the "Library" heading. All photos stored in the iCloud photo library will be displayed.
Step 3. Select the photos you want to delete
You can click a photo to select it, or click and drag the cursor over multiple photos to select multiple photos at once. You can also hold down Command and click different photos to select specific photos.
Step 4. Press the Delete key
After the photo is selected, press the "delete" button on the keyboard. A warning dialog window will be displayed.
Step 5. Click Delete
It's a blue button in the pop-up window that appears at the top of the Photos app window. The selected photos will be permanently deleted from your computer and all devices connected to your iCloud account.
