This wikiHow teaches you how to permanently delete chat messages from a direct message thread on Slack via a desktop internet browser.
Step
Step 1. Open Slack via an internet browser
Launch your browser, type slack.com into the address bar, and press Enter on your keyboard.
You can also download and use the Slack desktop application on your computer
Step 2. Enter the workspace
Click the button Sign in ” in the upper right corner of the screen, and go to the desired workspace.
If you don't see the " Sign in ” at the top right corner of the screen, you can see another button under the column “ E-mail, in the center of the screen.
Step 3. Click direct message on the left pane
All map threads are directly displayed under the “Direct Messages” section, in the left navigation pane. Once clicked, the chat will be displayed on the right side of the window.
You can also delete the chat thread in its entirety by clicking the " x" next to the message, but the chat history will not be deleted as well.
Step 4. Find the message you want to delete in the chat and hover over the message
After that, toolbar icons will be displayed on the right side of the message.

Step 5. Click the three-dot icon next to the message
Find and click the three-dot icon to the right of the message. After that, a pop-up menu will be displayed.
Step 6. Click Delete message on the menu
This option is shown in red text at the bottom of the menu. You need to confirm it in a new pop-up window.
Step 7. Click Delete
It's a red button in the lower-right corner of the confirmation pop-up window. The selected message will be deleted from the chat.
