This wikiHow teaches you how to save photos from Facebook to your computer, phone, or tablet. You must already have a Facebook account in order to save images. Please note that you cannot download cover photos of other users.
Step
Method 1 of 2: On Desktop Site
Step 1. Open Facebook
Visit in a browser. After that, a news feed page (“News Feed”) will be displayed if you are logged into your Facebook account.
If you're not logged into your account, type in your email address (or phone number) and password in the top-right corner of the page to sign in
Step 2. Open the image you want to download
Browse the newsfeed pages until you find the photo you want to download, or visit the profile of the user who uploaded the photo to find it.
- You cannot save a cover photo from Facebook.
- You can visit the user's profile by clicking the search bar at the top of the Facebook page, typing the user's name, clicking their name in the drop-down menu, and clicking their profile in the search results.
Step 3. Click the photo
After that, the photo will be displayed in full screen mode.
Step 4. Select a photo
Place the cursor on the photo to select it. After that, you'll see a few different options at the edge of the photo.
The mouse cursor must be above the photo before you can proceed to the next step
Step 5. Click Options (“Options”)
As long as the cursor is over the photo, this option will appear in the lower-right corner of the photo. After that, a pop-up menu will be displayed.
Step 6. Click Download (“Download”)
It's at the top of the pop-up menu. After that, the photo will be downloaded to the computer.
- In some browsers, you will first need to specify a save location and click the “ OK ”.
- The browser's main download location is the folder “ Downloads ”.
Method 2 of 2: On Mobile Devices
Step 1. Open Facebook
Tap the Facebook app icon, which looks like a white “f” on a dark blue background. After that, a news feed page (“News Feed”) will be displayed if you are already logged in to your account.
If you're not logged into your account, type in your email address (or phone number) and password when prompted
Step 2. Open the image you want to download
Browse the newsfeed pages until you find the photo you want to download, or visit the profile of the user who uploaded the photo to find it.
- You cannot save a cover photo from Facebook.
- You can visit the user's profile by clicking the search bar at the top of the Facebook page, typing the user's name, tapping their name in the drop-down menu, and clicking their profile in the search results.
Step 3. Touch the photo
After that, the photo will be displayed.
Step 4. Touch and hold the photo
A pop-up menu will appear after a second or two.
Step 5. Touch Save Photo when prompted
It's at the top of the menu. After that, the photo will be saved to your phone or tablet.
Tips
- Click the menu " Options ” (“Options”) on any of your own uploaded photos to show more options than the options applicable to other users' photos.
- You can also save a photo on your computer by opening it, right-clicking the photo, selecting “ Save image as… ” (or a similar option) in the drop-down menu, select a save location, and click “ OK ”.
- The keyboard shortcut Ctrl+S (or Command+S for Mac) on a computer is actually used to save web pages, not photos from Facebook that you want to save.
