A baking soda face mask is an inexpensive, natural, and effective option to nourish, protect, and keep your skin healthy. This mask is also easy to make, just by mixing baking soda and water. You can also add cleaning agents and other natural ingredients to it. Read on for the next tip to find out how to clean your face with baking soda.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Creating and Using a Regular Mask
Step 1. Start by cleansing your face
Before using a baking soda mask, make sure your face is clean and free of oil and other impurities. Clean your face with warm water and your usual cleansing soap.
Step 2. Make a paste of baking soda and water
You will need three teaspoons of baking soda and one tablespoon of water. Mix the two together to form a paste. Baking soda is a great exfoliant; it is also efficacious as an antifungal and antiseptic, making it perfect for treating acne and blackheads.
Be sure to use baking soda and not baking powder or washing powder
Step 3. Use your hands to apply the mask on the face until evenly distributed
You can also dip the tip of a damp washcloth and use it to apply the mask to your face. Avoid sensitive areas such as around the eyes and mouth, but focus on blackheads such as the nose. Gently massage your face for 5 minutes, but don't rub too vigorously.
Step 4. Rinse your face with warm water
Make sure to remove the entire mask from your face. Sometimes, baking soda can get trapped in the eyebrows.
Step 5. Dry your face
Use a soft clean towel and pat your face dry. Don't rub your face.
Step 6. Finish by applying moisturizer and toner
Moisturizers will leave your skin looking and feeling soft, while toners will restore the skin's pH balance while tightening pores.
Step 7. Consider continuing skin care using this mask regularly
Regular exfoliation is very beneficial for your skin, just don't use this mask every day. Limit its use to no more than three times a week.
Method 2 of 3: Making and Using an Exfoliating Mask
Step 1. Start by cleansing your face
Clean your face with warm water and your favorite cleansing soap. Rinse the soap suds off your face and then pat them dry with a soft, dry towel.
Step 2. Brew a cup of chamomile tea
Put one chamomile tea bag in a cup and fill it with cup (about 56 ml) boiling water. To get the maximum benefits of tea, cover the cup with a small saucer and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Make strong chamomile tea for the mask. Allow the tea to cool before pouring it into the other ingredients.
Step 3. Puree old-fashioned oats in a blender
Pour the oats into a blender and puree with a few vibrations until smooth. You will need cup (40 g) of ground oats. Oats will be a cleanser and moisturizer as well as a gentle exfoliant for your skin.
Step 4. Make a paste of oat powder, honey and baking soda
You will need cup of oats, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1 tablespoon of raw honey. Mix everything in a bowl to form a paste.
To increase the exfoliating properties of the mask, add 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
Step 5. Pour in the chamomile tea
The paste you just made is still too dry to use as a mask, so you'll need to moisturize it by pouring some chamomile tea. Start by pouring in two tablespoons of tea and stirring with a spoon. Keep pouring the tea little by little until the mask is the thickness you want. The mask paste should be gentle enough that you can apply it easily all over your face, but not runny or runny.
Step 6. Prepare your face before applying the mask
Moisturize your face with a little water. Since these masks stick to other parts of the body easily, you should prevent this by tying and keeping your hair away from your face and covering your clothes with a towel. You can also use this mask in the bathroom, so it can be cleaned more easily.
Step 7. Gently massage the mask into your facial skin
Apply the mask to your face using your hands or a damp washcloth. Be sure to avoid sensitive areas such as around your eyes and mouth. Leave the mask on for about 5 minutes.
Step 8. Rinse the mask off your face
Sprinkle warm water on your face and massage gently to clean the mask. If there is still honey residue on your face, you can clean it with your favorite soap.
Step 9. Consider applying moisturizer and toner afterward
Moisturizers will leave your skin looking and feeling soft, while toners will nourish your skin while tightening its pores.
Method 3 of 3: Making and Using a Honey Face Mask
Step 1. Start by cleansing your face
Before using this mask, your face must be clean and free from oil and other impurities. Clean your face with warm water and cleansing soap. Rinse the soap suds off your face and pat dry with a clean towel.
Step 2. Moisten the washcloth
Wet a washcloth with warm water and squeeze out the excess water. You need a washcloth that is wet but not dripping with water.
Step 3. Pour honey into one corner of the washcloth
You will need teaspoon of raw honey. Honey will not only deal with the bacteria that cause acne and blackheads, but it will also restore moisture to your skin.
Step 4. Add baking soda
You will need teaspoon of baking soda. Baking soda works as a gentle exfoliant and helps exfoliate your skin.
Step 5. Mix the two ingredients together to make a paste
You can use your hands, or fold a washcloth that has been mixed with baking soda and honey to mix the two together to form a paste.
Step 6. Wet your face and gently massage the washcloth
Be sure to apply all of the ingredients all over your face, but don't get them around your eyes or mouth. To prevent irritation, do not rub the mask too vigorously against your skin.
Step 7. Rinse your face
Sprinkle warm water and massage into the face to clean the mask.
Step 8. Make a face freshener
You'll need cup (about 56 ml) of water and 3 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar. Pour the two ingredients into a clean bottle and shake until well combined. Baking soda can upset your skin's pH balance, but apple cider vinegar can restore it.
- These fresheners are perishable and should be stored in the refrigerator when not in use.
- Consider adding 5 drops of rosemary essential oil to your apple cider vinegar refreshing solution. Rosemary essential oil can preserve fresheners as well as have antibacterial properties.
Step 9. Apply toner
Wet a cotton ball with the toner and gently apply it all over your face. Focus on the forehead, cheekbones, and nose. Avoid the sensitive areas around your eyes and mouth.
Tips
- You can use a paste of water and baking soda as a face mask by applying it all over your face (avoiding the eyes and mouth) and leaving it on for 30 minutes.
- You can turn any regular cleansing soap into an exfoliating soap by adding a little baking soda. Next time you clean your face, put a little baking soda in the soap first, then use it.
- Besides being able to prevent acne, baking soda can also treat skin conditions that are attacked by eczema and psoriasis.
- Use a baking soda-based treatment on your face to relieve skin irritation from sun exposure and insect bites.
Warning
- Don't scrub your face too vigorously with baking soda. This can cause skin irritation.
- Baking soda can irritate sensitive skin. Consider testing it on a small patch of skin on your elbow by rubbing it there and letting it sit for a few minutes. If your skin is not irritated after a few hours, this mask is safe for you to use.
- Immediately remove the mask if it makes your skin itchy or burning.
