Unless a city-wide power outage occurs, it is the customer's responsibility to report the telephone company that there is a faulty telephone line. First, test your system with several methods, then you can call the phone company to report the problem.
Step
Part 1 of 2: Testing Your Phone Line
Step 1. Pick up your phone
If you are using a landline, listen for the dial tone by pressing the number keys. Make sure the cable on the body of the phone is connected and the phone battery is fully charged before you proceed to the next step.
If you are using a mobile phone, try calling one of the numbers in the contacts list as you will not hear a dial tone
Step 2. Try connecting another phone to the phone cord
If you are forced to buy a new phone to do so, we recommend that you keep a receipt so you can return it if your old phone turns out to be undamaged.
Step 3. Use another phone for the second stage of testing
You can also use a computer for internet calling systems, such as Skype.
Step 4. Call the phone line that you suspect is broken
If the call doesn't go through despite the dial tone, there may be a problem with the phone line.
Part 2 of 2: Reporting a Broken Phone Line
Step 1. Find your last phone bill
Search web pages for customer service. You can also directly use a search engine and write down "Report a crash" and the name of the phone company.
Step 2. Check the phone line using the automated system if available
Write down your phone number in the space provided and the phone system will check if there is a problem with your phone line.
Step 3. Follow the instructions on the web page if the phone number has been checked and there is damage
You need to submit a form and then you will get a phone call from the service department.
Step 4. Call the customer service number listed on the phone bill using a calling service via the internet or through someone else's phone
Report that your phone line is broken. Request a service request form for an immediate response.
Step 5. Check your phone after contacting customer service
If your phone line is still having problems, call customer service again.
