Kickasstorrents is known as a website that has a large collection of torrent files available for download, from music and movies to apps and books. However, before downloading a torrent, you need a client (client). A torrent client is a program that connects people who have the same torrent file as you so that you can download torrent content.

Step 1. Select and install a torrent client
To download torrent files, you need a ''torrent'' client. The program opens the downloaded torrent file and connects you with other users who share the file. Here are some popular torrent clients to use:

- Note that almost all torrent clients will try to install other software when installing the client. Most users don't want or need these additional programs, so be sure to refuse to install them during the installation process.
Step 2. Set up the client configuration
After installing the torrent client, you can change several configurations to get the best performance.
- Open the Preferences menu and select the “Directory” option. Enter the location where you want to save the files downloaded via the torrent client.
- Set the bandwidth limit in the “bandwidth” section. Usually you want the download speed to reach the maximum speed, so set “0” as the download limit (bandwidth limit). You may want to limit the upload speed (upload), because if the upload speed reaches the maximum speed, it can slow down the surfing speed on the internet.
- Enable protocol encryption. This option can help hide torrent data traffic from internet service providers so as to prevent internet service providers from trying to slow down torrent download speeds. You can enable “Protocol Encyption” in the “BitTorren” section of the Preferences menu.
Step 3. Open the firewall port

Part 2 of 2: Downloading from Kickasstorrents
Step 1. Go to the Kickasstorrents website
Open a web browser of your choice, then enter https://kickass.la in the address bar of the website. Kickasstorrents has annoying ads on its pages, so it is recommended that you activate an ad blocker when visiting the website.
Step 2. Find the desired file
Use the search bar at the top of the page to find the file you want to download. You'll get multiple results for the same file, so you'll have to decide which one to download.
- See seeder numbers as well as leecher numbers. Seeders are people who have downloaded files and leechers are people who are currently downloading files and only have part of the files. Leecher can help you download the file as long as they download the file while uploading it. If the number of leechers is greater than the number of seeders, the file downloading process will take longer. If the number of seeders is small, the download process will take a long time or may not be completed.
- Read user comments. Users can comment and rate torrent quality. Reading their comments can prevent you from wasting time, because by reading the comments you can tell which file has a lot of errors or is a bad version. You can also find out which torrent files contain viruses by reading user comments.
- See file size differences. This step is especially important if you want to download movies, as smaller files are usually of lower quality. If you need the best film quality, you should download the largest file size with a large number of seeders. Reading user comments can also help you determine the quality of the file.
- Learn film rating abbreviations. The letter “A” stands for “audio” and the letter “V” stands for “video.” Many users of KAT (an acronym for Kickasstorrents) enter their “ratings” in the comments section regarding the audio and video results. For example, if many users comment “A:8 V:9”, on a scale of 1-10, then the file has excellent audio and video. These assessments can help you choose the files you want to download.

Step 3. Download torrents
If you're satisfied with the torrent you found, click the “Download” button next to the list of search results (the button is a small arrow pointing down), or click “Download Torrent” above the torrent page information.

Step 4. Open the torrent file using the client
If your browser shows a file at the bottom of the screen, click the torrent file. If you only have one torrent client installed on your computer, the torrent file will open in the client automatically. If it doesn't open automatically, right-click the torrent file, select the “Open with..” option and look for a torrent client.
Step 5. Wait for the file to finish downloading
After you open a torrent file using a torrent client, the client will contact the seeder and download the file. Torrents that are being downloaded usually take a moment to "warm up", but once connected to a good seeder, the download speed will quickly increase to maximum speed. Once the torrent has finished downloading, you will be able to find the file in the predefined directory (folder).
Step 6. Provide a seed for the downloaded torrent
Torrents can survive if they get help from the seeder community. Usually, you are expected to provide a seed according to the size of the downloaded file. This is to ensure that others can download the same files you have downloaded, and to keep the torrent going for a very long time.
