There's nothing more refreshing than a cold drink on a hot day. There are many children who have tried to make money selling cold drinks or iced lemonade. To get started, determine the right location and create a great ad. Most importantly, you offer your customers fresh and delicious lemonade so they will come back to your booth again. You can also sell light snacks to keep customers happy and coming back for more.

Part 1 of 3: Making a Plan
Step 1. Find out where you are allowed to set up your booth
Did you know that there are regulations governing booth locations? Before setting up a booth, make sure that you are not violating any laws regarding the establishment of a booth. To find out if you are allowed to set up a booth in certain places, make sure you have obtained a permit or meet certain conditions.
- Ask your parents if you are allowed to set up a booth. Tell them that in many cities or regions, a permit is required in order to set up a booth.
- If your school has a market day, maybe you can try selling lemonade on that day.
Step 2. Choose a popular place
If you live in a quiet area, you may be able to choose a location where people pass by more often. The intersection can be a suitable choice of location because there will be many people passing by from various directions. Make sure the location you choose is safe to occupy and don't set up a booth too close to the edge of the road.
- You can also set up a booth in your own front yard. This is suitable, especially if you live in a fairly crowded area.
- Be careful if you are setting up a booth in a public park or at an outdoor sporting event. Many cities or regions have issued regulations for buying and selling activities specifically in these areas.
Step 3. Find out if there are other children who would like to be involved in this activity
Ask someone to help so you can take turns doing different jobs. Plus, it's nice to be able to work with other people, especially when you need to rest.
If you plan to sell for a long time, arrange shifts so that no one has to work more than two hours without a break. Make sure the person who gets the shift you can trust and won't steal the money from selling. Untrustworthy business partners can destroy your business
Step 4. Bring special water and snacks for everyone working (you and your friends)
If you sell for a long time, you will be thirsty. Do not let you spend the drinks and food that you should be selling.
Step 5. Think about the selling price of your drink
If you use fresh oranges, ice, and a large glass, you can set a price of around 10 thousand rupiah per glass. If you use instant drink powder and small glasses, there is a chance that people will not want to pay more than two thousand five hundred to five thousand rupiah. Oftentimes, the kids who run the lemonade stands charge prices that are too low or too high, so they don't get much profit. Make sure you have prepared money in small denominations, either banknotes or coins, for change.
Step 6. Make a booth marker
Get some poster boards and markers ready so you can make large, colorful signboards to hang on the booth. Your bookmarks should be able to tell people what you're selling and at what price. Use attractive and neat handwriting. You can draw an orange or a glass of lemonade to make your signboard more interesting.
- You can also make signboards or posters to be posted and pasted around your neighborhood. Tell people where to go if they want to buy a cold drink.
- If you put up signs or posters around your home, make sure you remove them when you close your booth.
Step 7. Prepare a menu, determine what you will sell
This menu can contain:
- Cold drinks with various flavors
- Other drinks (eg soda)
- Snacks (either homemade or store-bought), such as cookies.
Step 8. Try to make your customers more comfortable
If you're selling on a very hot day, consider providing shade, chairs, and folding tables. This will make your booth even more attractive! If possible, you can also provide other items of interest to customers. On market day at school, for example, you might be able to play the guitar to entertain your customers. The more creative, the more customers will come.
Part 2 of 3: Establishing Stan
Step 1. Prepare a small table and a few chairs
The surface area of the small table (folding table or table for playing cards) you use should be large enough for you to place pitchers (glass jugs) for drinks, glasses, napkins, and other light snacks you sell. To attract more customers, use a pretty tablecloth with a less complicated motif and glue the booth markers in front of the table. Bright colors will attract people's attention so they will look at your booth and consider whether to buy something there.
Step 2. Make a drink that you will sell
Not all lemonades are made with exactly the same recipe. Therefore, it's a good idea to use a delicious lemonade recipe so you don't disappoint customers. Make sure you try each brew made to make sure it has the right sweetness and acidity before selling it. Always serve lemonade with ice to keep it cold. There are three ways you can try to make lemonade:
- Make fresh lemonade from real orange juice. For about 4 liters of lemonade, you need 0.5 liters of fresh orange juice and 0.5 liters of sugar. Mix until sugar is dissolved.
- Make lemonade from lemonade concentrate. You can buy frozen lemonade concentrate at the grocery store, in the cold food section. Mix the lemonade concentrate with water, according to the directions on the package.
- Make lemonade from instant drink powder. Buy a can of instant drink powder. Follow the directions on the can to mix the lemonade powder with cold water.
Step 3. Do not use disposable cups and napkins
Small paper cups are widely used, but they are not good for the environment because they have to be destroyed in landfills and cause air pollution. Borrow a glass of lemonade from your parents and bring dish-stealing liquid, a rag, and find a shop near a source of clean water for you to wash the glass if possible. If you can't find a place to sell that is close to a clean water source, provide enough glasses and go home to wash them every few hours. Don't give disposable napkins to your customers, but point them to the nearest public sink or toilet. Make sure to clean your glass properly or your customers won't come again.
Step 4. Sell other treats if you want
Why only sell lemonade? Since you're setting up a booth, you can also offer snacks to customers. Cookies, brownies, and other baked goods can be great treats for sale. You can also offer a variety of drinks for sale. Strawberry lemonade, iced tea, and fruit punch can be refreshing drink choices that customers may also like.
Part 3 of 3: Selling Lemonade
Step 1. Talk to passers-by
If you just sit still, people won't be compelled to come and buy lemonade. Smile and say, “Would you like some cold lemonade?” This way, people will see your booth and maybe buy something. Be prepared to answer any questions they may ask. Make sure to speak clearly. Even if they don't buy anything, don't be shy to say "Thank you!".
Step 2. Be polite
Potential customers won't buy anything if you feel bad for them. If your customer brings children, talk to them and give them a compliment. If your customer is an adult, put on a happy expression and act cheerful, and be yourself. If they ultimately decide not to buy, keep smiling and serve the next customer.
Step 3. When serving the lemonade, serve it neatly
When the customer wants to buy lemonade, carefully pour the lemonade into a glass and give the glass of lemonade to the customer along with a napkin. After they receive a glass of lemonade, accept the money they paid you and keep it in a money jar or wallet. Don't forget to thank them! If you are lucky, your customers will tell their friends to visit your booth. Remember to always be polite to customers. There's the phrase "the customer is always right," even if there are exceptions (for example, for customers who are rude), in general this phrase can serve as a good guide.
Tips
- Make sure the booth (table) is always beautiful, clean, has decorations and bright colors so that it can attract the attention of more people.
- If you put up a sign on the side of the road, make sure the writing is big enough for people to see clearly from their car.
- Make sure you don't leave the lemonade outside for too long or the ice you prepare may melt. Also make sure your mom or dad wants to make an extra serving or two of lemonade, and don't forget to try it.
- If you have a booth open for more than one day, count how many customers came to see if there was an increase in sales. Prepare a notebook to count the number of customers who come each day.
- Advertise your booth. Print out some information sheets about your booth. Paste the advertising poster in mailboxes or street lamps around where you live.
- Useful tip: you can get more customers during the day (around 2 or 3 pm), as the weather gets hotter and there are more people coming home or from work.
- Ask your friends for help! However, if you ask him for help, make sure you and he get a fair share of the money. Good luck selling!
- If you are very young, ask your parent or guardian for permission to open a lemonade stand.
- Give attractive offers to your customers. One glass of lemonade can be purchased for about three thousand rupiah, or five glasses for ten thousand rupiah. However, the offers made can attract the attention of more people and become interesting information that you can put on the signboard.
- You can make a mascot for your lemonade stand, for example an orange that has a pair of eyes and a pair of hands, and a cute smile.
Warning
- If you're making baked goods, make sure you use the recipe correctly. Try your pastries before selling them.
- Make sure your products are sold at the right price, not too expensive and not too cheap. You want to profit from the sales of these products, right?
