Of course it's inconvenient if you have to find the degree symbol (“°“), copy it, and paste it into the document whenever needed. Fortunately, there are some quick shortcuts you can use to insert the symbol, whether on a Windows computer or Mac or iPhone or Android device. No need to copy and paste symbols!

Method 1 of 7: Using Keyboard Shortcuts
Step 1. Click the area where you want to add a degree symbol
The fastest way to add symbols to a document is to use a keyboard shortcut. You can use the alt=""Image" code on a Windows computer. Mac computers have their own keyboard shortcuts. You can also take advantage of custom shortcuts in Word and Excel. Click the area where you want to add a degree symbol to an email, social media post, private message, or other text document.
Step 2. Press Shift+⌥ Option+8 on Mac computers
If you are using a Mac computer, press the combination “ Shift ” + “ Options ” + “
Step 8.” at the same time to insert a degree symbol into the text.
Step 3. Press Shift+Ctrl+@, followed Spaces in Microsoft Word.
If you are using Microsoft Word, you can insert a degree symbol by pressing the “ Ctrl ”+” @ ”, followed by a spacebar.

If you are using a Windows computer with a 10-digit numeric pad on the right side of the keyboard, press and hold the “alt="Image"” key while typing the numbers “0”, “1”, “7”, and “6” on the. Do not use the row of number keys above the keyboard. Once the “alt="Image"” key is released, you can see the degree symbol in the text.
If it doesn't work, press the "Num Lock" key first and try again
Method 2 of 7: Using Emoji Keyboard on Windows 10
Step 1. Click the area where you want to add a degree symbol
You can do this in any application that allows you to type text. You can use email fields, social media posts, private messages, or text documents.
Step 2. Press the “Windows” key + the dot (“
). Once both keys are pressed simultaneously, the Windows emoji keyboard will appear.
Step 3. Click
This button looks like the horse's paw symbol at the top of the emoji keyboard. Symbol options will be displayed afterwards.
Step 4. Swipe the screen and select
Look for the degree symbol button in the symbol list, then click the button to add the symbol to the text.
Method 3 of 7: Using the Character Map Application on a Windows Computer
Step 1. Click the “Start” menu
The icon looks like the Windows logo in the lower-left corner of the screen.
Step 2. Type in character map
After that, the Character Map application will be searched on the computer.
Step 3. Select the Character Map
This app icon looks like a triangle and appears at the top of the “Start” window. Once the icon is clicked, the Character Map will be opened.
Step 4. Check the "Advanced view" box
This box appears at the bottom of the application window.
If the "Advanced view" box is already checked, skip this step
Step 5. Find the degree symbol
Type the search keyword "degree sign" into the "Search for" field at the bottom of the window. After that, select " Search " The main Character Map page will be blank and only the degree symbol will be displayed on the page.
You can also look for the degree symbol in the sixth row of the Character Map window when the program is first opened
Step 6. Double-click the degree symbol
The symbol is displayed in the upper left side of the Character Map window.
Step 7. Select Copy
This button appears on the right side of the " Characters to copy " column.
Step 8. Display the section you want to add the degree symbol to
You can open a text document, a social media post, or an email field.
Step 9. Press the shortcut Ctrl+V
The copied degree symbol will be pasted into the text.
Method 4 of 7: On Mac Computer
Step 1. Display the text field or section to which you want to add a degree symbol
Open the application, document, or website that you want to add a symbol to, and then click the text field where you need to insert the symbol.
Step 2. Select Edit
This menu option appears at the top of the screen. A drop-down menu will open afterwards.
Step 3. Click Emoji & Symbols
You can find this option at the bottom of the drop-down menu “ Edit The Character Viewer window will open afterwards.
Step 4. Select the Punctuation tab
This tab appears on the left side of the Character Viewer window.
You may first need to click the " Expand " icon that looks like a box in the top right corner of the window
Step 5. Find the degree symbol
This symbol is in the third row of symbols, right next to the “ ^ ”.
There is a larger degree symbol on the right side of the same row if the symbol on the far left is too small
Step 6. Double-click the symbol
The symbol will be added to the text field, in the section marked by the cursor.
Method 5 of 7: On Chromebooks and Linux
Step 1. Click the area where you want to add a degree symbol
On Chromebooks and Linux, you can insert a degree symbol using a unicode symbol. Click the input field to which you want to add a symbol.
Step 2. Press Shift+Ctrl+U
The underlined "u" will appear in the text.
Step 3. Type 00B0 on Chromebooks or B0 on Linux
The code is a degree symbol unicode code.
Step 4. Press Space or Enter.
The underlined "u" will be converted to a degree symbol.
Method 6 of 7: On iPhone and iPad
Step 1. Open the app that uses the keyboard
You can insert a degree symbol using the iPhone or iPad's built-in keyboard, but you'll need to switch to the appropriate keyboard view first.
Step 2. Place the cursor where you want to add a symbol
Touch the text field (eg iMessage text field) to which you want to add symbols. The keyboard will be displayed on the screen afterwards.
Step 3. Touch the 123 button
It's in the lower-left side of the screen and will display the number keys and some of the symbols on the keyboard.
Step 4. Press and hold the "0" button
Knob 0 ” is at the top of the keyboard. After a while, a pop-up menu will appear above the “ 0 ”.
If you are using an iPhone 6S or later, press the “ 0 ” lightly because instead of displaying a menu, the 3D Touch feature will actually be activated if you press the screen too hard.
Step 5. Select the degree symbol
Slide your finger over the symbol, make sure it's marked, and lift your finger off the screen. The symbol will be added to the text after it.
Method 7 of 7: On Android Device
Step 1. Open the app that uses the keyboard
The degree symbol is available in the “Symbols” section of the device keyboard.
Step 2. Place the cursor where you want to add a symbol
Touch the text field (e.g. the messaging app text field) to which you want to add symbols. The keyboard will be displayed on the screen afterwards.
Step 3. Touch the ?123. button or !#1.
This key appears on the lower left side of the keyboard. The display of numbers and symbols will be activated on the keyboard.
Step 4. Touch the secondary symbol button
This button is the second button from the bottom on the left side of the keyboard. On Google GBoard, this button is indicated by the symbol "=\<". On the Samsung Keyboard, this key is indicated by the "1/2" symbol.
Step 5. Touch the degree symbol
The symbol will be added to the text field afterwards.
Step 6. Copy the symbol
If you can't find the degree symbol on your device's keyboard, follow these steps:
- Touch and hold this icon: °
- Choose " Copy ” when prompted.
- Touch the text field.
- Choose " Paste ” if requested.
