This wikiHow teaches you how to delete spam (junk) messages on iPad. Most email apps allow you to quickly and easily delete all messages in your spam or “Junk” folder. Before deleting all messages in the folder, make sure you review the existing contents to make sure no important messages are wasted from the folder.

Method 1 of 4: Using Apple Mail
Step 1. Open the Apple Mail app
This app is marked by a blue icon with a white envelope. Usually, you can see this icon in the Dock at the bottom of the screen.
Step 2. Touch Mailboxes
It's in the upper-left corner of the mailbox. A sidebar menu with all the mail folders will appear on the left of the screen.
If you are logged into more than one email account, touch “ Account ” at the top of the left sidebar, then select the email account you want to use.
Step 3. Touch Junk
The “Junk” folder is next to the trash can icon with an “x” in it. All spam messages in the “Junk” folder will be displayed on the left sidebar of the screen.
Step 4. Touch Edit
It's at the top of the left sidebar, in its right corner. A circle button will appear to the left of all messages in the folder. Some additional options will also appear at the bottom of the left sidebar.
Step 5. Touch Delete All
This option is at the bottom of the left sidebar after you touch "Edit". A confirmation pop-up window will appear. Review the contents of the “Junk” folder first before you delete all messages to make sure there are no important messages that need to be saved.
Step 6. Touch Delete All
It's a red link in a pop-up window. Deletion of all emails in the “Junk” folder will be confirmed and the messages will be moved to the “Trash” folder.
- You can also specify which emails need to be deleted. Touch the circle button on the left side of the email you want to delete in the “Junk” folder to mark it, then select “ Delete ” at the bottom of the left sidebar menu to delete all flagged emails.
- If you see a message that you want to save in the “Junk” folder, touch the email to open it. After that, touch the folder icon at the top of the screen. Choose " Inbox ” at the top of the left sidebar menu. The selected email will be moved to the main inbox.
- To empty the “Trash” folder, touch “ Trash ” on the left sidebar, select “ Edit ” at the top of the sidebar, and touch “ Delete All ” at the bottom of the menu.
Method 2 of 4: Using Gmail
Step 1. Open the Gmail app
The app is marked by a white icon with an envelope and a red “M” above the fold.
Step 2. Touch
It's in the upper-right corner of the app window. A sidebar menu with all your email and message folders will appear on the left side of the screen.
If you're signed in to more than one Gmail account, tap "▾" next to the email address shown above the left sidebar. After that, select the email account you want to use
Step 3. Touch Spam
This folder contains all spam (junk) messages. You can see it next to the octagonal icon with a “!” sign. in the middle.
Step 4. Tap on Empty Spam Now
It's in the upper-right side of the email list in the “Spam” folder. A pop-up menu asking if you want to continue the procedure will be displayed afterwards. Make sure you review the contents of the folder first before emptying it to make sure there are no important messages to keep.
Step 5. Touch Ok
With this option, you confirm deletion of all emails in the “Spam” folder. All messages from that folder will be moved to the “Trash” folder.
- You can also delete spam emails separately by tapping the message to open it, and selecting the trash can icon at the top of the screen.
- If you see a message you want to save, touch the email to open it and select " …" in the upper right corner of the screen. Touch " Move to " and select " Primary ” to move the message to the main inbox.
- To empty the “Trash” folder, select “ Trash ” on the left sidebar. After that, touch " Empty Trash Now ” at the top of the email list. Choose " Ok ” to confirm emptying the folder.
Method 3 of 4: Using Outlook
Step 1. Open the Outlook app
The app is marked by a blue icon with a white sheet of paper and the letter “O” above the envelope.
Step 2. Touch
It's in the upper-right corner of the Outlook app window. A sidebar menu showing all the email folders in the account will appear.
If you're signed in to more than one email account in the Outlook app, select the account you want to use by tapping the email icons in the gray bar on the left side of the sidebar
Step 3. Touch Spam
This folder contains all spam messages. You can see it next to the folder icon with a circle crossed by a line.
Step 4. Touch Empty Spam
It's at the top of the left sidebar, next to the trash icon. A pop-up menu will appear asking you to confirm the permanent deletion of all contents of the “Spam” folder. Before emptying the folder, double-check the contents of the folder to make sure there are no important messages that you want/need to keep.
Step 5. Touch Permanently Delete
This red link is in the pop-up window that appears when you select " Empty Spam ". With this option, you confirm deletion of the contents of the “Spam” folder. Review the messages in the folder to make sure there are no emails to save.
You can also delete individual emails by tapping the message to open it first, then selecting the trash can icon at the top of the message. Touch " Permanently Delete ” to confirm deletion.
Method 4 of 4: Using Yahoo Mail
Step 1. Open the Yahoo Mail app
This application is marked by a purple icon with an envelope image.
Step 2. Touch
It's in the upper-right corner of the app window. A sidebar with all the options menus and email folders will appear on the left side of the screen.
Step 3. Touch Spam
This folder contains all spam messages. You can find it next to the shield icon with the "x" symbol.
Step 4. Touch and hold the email to select it
The email will be selected and a circle button will appear on the left side of all messages in the “Spam” folder.
Step 5. Select the emails you want to delete
Touch the circle button on the left side of the email to select it. To select all the emails in a folder, tap the blue check button at the top of the left sidebar menu, above the circle buttons. Review the contents of the folder first to make sure there are no important messages that you need to save.
Step 6. Touch the trash can icon
It's at the bottom of the left sidebar menu. A pop-up menu will appear asking if you want to permanently delete all messages marked in the “Spam” folder.
Step 7. Touch Ok
All emails in the “Spam” folder will be permanently deleted.
