The easiest way to open Terminal is to use one of the well-known keyboard shortcuts. You can also use the search feature in the Dash, or add a shortcut to Terminal in the Launcher. In older versions of Ubuntu, find Terminal in the Applications directory.

Method 1 of 4: Using Keyboard Shortcuts

Step 1. Press Ctrl+Alt+T to open Terminal

Step 2. Press Alt+F2 and enter gnome-terminal
This way, you can also open Terminal.

Step 3. If you are using Xubuntu, press Win+T to open Terminal

Step 4. Create a custom shortcut to open Terminal
You can change the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+T to any key with the following steps:
- On the Launcher bar, click System settings.
- Click the Keyboard option in the Hardware section.
- Click the Shortcuts tab.
- Click the Launcher category, then select Launch Terminal.
- Enter the keyboard shortcut you want.
Method 2 of 4: Using Dash

Step 1. Click the Dash button, or press Win
The Dash button is in the upper-left corner of the screen, and is represented by the Ubuntu logo.
If you changed the Super key mapping from Win, press your new Super key

Step 2. Enter the terminal

Step 3. Press {keypress|Return}}
Method 3 of 4: Using Launcher Shortcuts

Step 1. Click the Dash button
This button is on the Launcher bar, and is denoted by the Ubuntu logo.

Step 2. Enter terminal to search for Terminal

Step 3. Drag the "Terminal" icon from the search results to the Launcher bar

Step 4. Click the Terminal shortcut you just created to open it
Method 4 of 4: Opening Terminal on Ubuntu 10.04 and Lower

Step 1. Click the Application button, which you can find in the Launcher bar

Step 2. Click Accessories. If you are using Xubuntu, click System.
