This wikiHow teaches you how to make a Jeopardy game using Microsoft PowerPoint. Jeopardy is a television show that airs in the United States. In this event, participants must answer questions selected from various categories of questions. To make a Jeopardy game, you can use both the Windows version of PowerPoint and the Mac version.

Step 1. Open PowerPoint

The PowerPoint icon is a white "P" in front of an orange background.

Step 2. Click Blank Presentation

It's in the upper-left side of the PowerPoint window. After clicking the option, a blank presentation will appear on the screen.

Step 3. Write Jeopardy or any other name as the title of the game

In the " Click to add title " box, type the name of the game, such as "Jeopardy". You can also enter game information into the text box below the title box if you wish.

For example, if you want to play this game in class for a specific lesson, you can enter your class and the name of the lesson, such as "Class 9F, Biology Lesson"

Step 4. Create a new slide

Click tab Insert it's at the top of the PowerPoint window. After that, click the box icon New Slide white color on the left of the toolbar Insert. After clicking the icon, a new slide will appear on the screen.

Step 5. Click the Insert tab

This tab is at the top of the PowerPoint window.

Step 6. Click Table

Step 7. Create a 6 x 6 table

In the drop-down menu, move the cursor from the upper left corner to the lower right corner until it forms a 6 x 6 box. After that, click the box.

Step 8. Resize the table

Enter a category name into each cell in the first row of the table.

Type the following points into each category column:

  • First question - 200
  • Second Question - 400
  • Third Question - 600
  • Fourth Question - 800

Step 11. Position the table text in the center of the cell

Click the table and press Ctrl+A (for Windows) or Command+A (for Mac) to highlight the entire table. After that, press Ctrl+E (for Windows) or Command+E (for Mac) to position the table contents in the center of the cell. After creating the "category" slides, you can then create hints for each question.

Step 1. Create 30 new slides

Alternatively, you can also press Ctrl+M (for Windows) or Command+M (for Mac) to create a new slide

Step 2. Enter the question hint

Select a slide in the slide list at the left of the screen. After that, click the text box in the middle of the slide and type in the question hint.

  • You can place the hint in the center of the slide by highlighting the text and pressing Ctrl+E (for Windows) or Command+E (for Mac).
  • We recommend that you enter the instructions in order to avoid confusion. For example, enter the instructions for the first available question in the first category into the blank slide under the "category" slide.

Step 3. Select the "category" slide

This slide is in the slide list in the left side of the PowerPoint window. You may have to move the list of slides up to find the slide. This will reopen the "category" slide.

Step 4. Highlight the points for the first available question in the first category

Click and drag the "200" text in the left column of the table to do so.

Step 5. Click Insert

It's at the top of the PowerPoint window.

If using a Mac, make sure you click the option Insert which is at the top of the PowerPoint window, not options Insert which is in the menu bar.

Step 6. Click Links

This option is on the toolbar Insert. After clicking this option, a pop-up window (small window containing certain information) will appear on the screen.

If you're using a Mac, you'll need to click Hyperlink.

Step 7. Click the Place in This Document tab

It's a tab to the left of the pop-up window.

If you are using a Mac, click This Document which is at the top of the window.

Step 8. Select the question guide slide

Click the hint text that corresponds to the first available question in the first category.

Step 9. Click OK

It's in the bottom right of the pop-up window. This will create a link linking the text "200" with the hint. That way, when you click on the text "200", you'll open a hint slide.

Step 10. Open the guide slide

Hold down the Ctrl key (for Windows) or the Command key (for Mac) while clicking 200 to open the guide slide.

To do so, select the hint text on the slide and click Options Link or Hyperlink in the toolbar and select the "category" slide.

Step 12. Create a link for other instructions

Once you've created the link and linked all the clues to the "category" slide, you can start playing Jeopardy. However, if you want to play all the game modes available on Jeopardy, you should make a slide containing the last two acts of Jeopardy.

If you want to make a double jeopardy slide, you can create a new slide and name it "DOUBLE JEOPARDY". Connect the slide to one of the bullet points on the "category" slide. After that, create a link connecting the slide " DOUBLE JEOPARDY " with the question

Step 1. Create a new slide containing a 6 x 7 category table

The seventh row in the table will be used as the " FINAL JEOPARDY " button.

When inserting a bullet into a slide, don't forget to double the point. For example, start the table with 400 points instead of 200, and end the table with 2000 points instead of 1000

Step 4. Click Merge Cells

This option is on the toolbar Layout. Clicking the option will merge the selected table cells and produce a large cell at the bottom of the table.

Step 5. Create a "FINAL JEOPARDY" button

Type FINAL JEOPARDY into the cell at the bottom of the table.

Step 6. Position the entire text in the center of the cell

Press Ctrl+A (for Windows) or Command+A (for Mac). Then press Ctrl+E (for Windows) or Command+E (for Mac).

Step 7. Create and link 30 guide slides

To do this step, you can use the method described in the previous method.

Keep in mind that you will have to create more difficult hints for this round than the hints made for the previous round

Step 8. Create and link the "Final Jeopardy" slide

Create a new slide and enter the final Jeopardy question. After that, connect the slide with the text " FINAL JEOPARDY " which is at the bottom of the second "category" slide.

Step 9. Save the PowerPoint file

Here's how to save a PowerPoint file:

  • For Windows - Click File, choose Save As and double click This PC. After that, select the location you want to use as a place to save the file on the left side of the window. Type a document name, such as "Jeopardy Game", into the "File name" text field and click Save.

Tips
