As in the real world, all crimes committed in the world of Skyrim will be punished. The game Skyrim uses a bounty system (a system used to record the number of criminal acts committed by a player) to punish players who break the rules. The more violations committed, the greater the Bounty value. Even if you manage to evade the guards, they will remember your face and ask you to turn yourself in every time you enter the Hold (administrative area headed by a Jarl) where you commit crimes and earn Bounties. Eliminating Bounties is very difficult. Therefore, players must commit criminal acts secretly or try not to break the law.
Step
Method 1 of 4: Killing an Eye Witness
Step 1. Make sure you are not seen by anyone when committing a crime
If you are planning to kill an eye witness, make sure you are not being watched by anyone. Otherwise, you will have to kill anyone who saw you too. If you don't kill all the witnesses, the Bounty will continue to be active.
Horses, cattle, and bandits can be eyewitnesses. Therefore, make sure you are not seen by anyone when you are committing a crime
Step 2. Approach eyewitnesses immediately after committing a crime
If you leave the crime scene, killing an eye witness will not remove the bounty. Therefore, you must immediately approach and kill eyewitnesses after committing a crime.
Step 3. Kill the eyewitness
If an eye witness catches you, you can't attack him secretly. Therefore, use melee attacks or very strong Spells. Press "R1+L1" (for PS3), "RB+LB" (for Xbox 360), or left-click and right-click (for computers) to attack witnesses. Attack witnesses until their health bar (an indicator that shows the number of lives possessed by other characters) runs out. You can see the eyewitness health bar at the top of the screen. Use the strongest attacks to kill eyewitnesses quickly so that your actions are not seen by anyone.
- Do not attack witnesses in the city as this will attract guards and add at least 1,000 Septim (currency in Skyrim) to your Bounty.
- If you manage to kill all the witnesses, a notification will appear at the top right of the screen. The notification explains that your bounty has been removed successfully.
Method 2 of 4: Paying the Bounty
Step 1. Keep all the stolen goods
When you pay Bounty, all stolen items will be confiscated. Store all these items in the chest in your house. That way, you don't have to steal back the confiscated items when paying the Bounty. The swag had the word “Stolen” in front of his name. That way, you can find stolen items easily.
Step 2. Enter Hold where you get Bounty
To check the Bounty you have on each Hold, press the "Start" button (for PS3 and Xbox 360) or "ESC" (for computers) and select the "GENERAL STATS" tab. After that select the " Crime " option to see the number of bounties in each hold.
Step 3. Talk to the guard
The easiest way to get rid of a bounty is to pay for it. After entering Hold, the guard you passed will approach. You can choose to pay the bounty, go to jail, or avoid arrest. If you choose the last option, you have to fight the guards and get a bigger bounty.
Step 4. Select the "You caught me, I'll pay off my bounty" option to pay the Bounty
If your Bounty is more than 10 Septim, you will be taken to the nearest prison and all stolen goods stored in your inventory will be confiscated by the guards. If your Bounty is less than 10 Septim, you will not be taken to jail. However, all stolen goods will still be confiscated. After doing this step, your Bounty will be lost.
Method 3 of 4: Go to Prison
Step 1. Enter Hold where you get Bounty
To check the Bounty you have on each Hold, press the "Start" button (for PS3 and Xbox 360) or "ESC" (for computers) and select the "GENERAL STATS" tab. After that select the "Crime" option to see the amount of Bounty in each Hold
Step 2. Talk to the guard
After entering the Hold, the guard you passed will approach. He will give you the option to pay the bounty, go to jail, or avoid arrest.
If you don't have enough money to pay the bounty or don't want to pay it, you will have to serve a term in prison
Step 3. Select the “I submit, take me to jail” option to submit yourself
You will be taken to the nearest prison. In addition, all your belongings, except for a Lockpick, will be confiscated by the guards. You can use Lockpick to escape from prison. However, this will increase the Bounty.
Step 4. Serve the sentence
To serve your sentence, sleep in a bed in a cell. Approach the bed and press "X" (for PS3), "A" (for Xbox 360), or "E" (for computer) to sleep. Wait a few minutes until you wake up automatically. When you wake up, the sentence will be over.
- Upon awakening, you will be brought to the front of the prison and all items (except stolen items) will be returned. After that, you can leave the place and your bounty will be lost.
- Following the punishment period will cost you some XP points that are used to level up. The longer the sentence, the more skills will be negatively affected. If the sentence is longer than one week, you will lose a lot of XP points for all skills.
Method 4 of 4: Using Thane Status Status
Step 1. Enter Hold where you get Bounty
To check the Bounty you have on each Hold, press the "Start" button (for PS3 and Xbox 360) or "ESC" (for computers) and select the "GENERAL STATS" tab. After that select the " Crime " option to see the amount of Bounty in each Hold.
Step 2. Talk to the guard
After entering Hold, the guard you passed will approach. He will talk to you and give you several options.
Step 3. Use Thane status to remove Bounty
If you have been appointed Thane, you can choose the option I'm the Jarl's Thane. I demand you let me go at once” in the dialogue. Choose this option to get rid of the Bounty without getting any bad consequences.
