This wikiHow teaches you how to choose an alternative route when looking for directions on Google Maps Android.
Step
Step 1. Open Maps on Android
This map icon is usually found on the home screen or in the app pool.
Step 2. Tap Go
It's a blue circle button near the bottom-right corner of the map.
Step 3. Tap Your location
This is the first box at the top of the screen.
Step 4. Select a starting point
Enter an address or place typical of the area, then tap in the search results. You can also select one of the suggested locations, then tap Your location (Your location) to enter where you are currently, or Choose on map (Select on Map) to tap a map point.
Step 5. Tap Choose destination
It's the second box at the top of the screen.
Step 6. Choose a destination
Enter a typical address or place, then tap it in the search results. You can also select a suggested location or tap Choose on map (Select on map) to select a map point. After that, a map will appear, showing the shortest route in the blue line, and the other route in the gray line.
Step 7. Tap on the gray route
This will change the route, turning the gray line to blue to indicate the route has been selected.
