Sometimes your pen cap opens and leaves ink marks on your rug. Do not be afraid! There are several methods you can try and they may all be in your sink or cupboard.
Step
Method 1 of 4: Wipe Alcohol
Step 1. Once the ink is spilled as quickly as possible take a washcloth and rubbing alcohol
Wet the side of the cloth with alcohol and place it over the stain while pressing down. Better not to rub the stain -- that will make it more of a problem. Gently wipe and make small movements, absorbing the residue into the fibers of your fabric.
Start at the sides and work your way up to the center, this will prevent the stain from spreading and becoming a big problem. Wipe in a circular motion in a clockwise direction
Step 2. Blot the stain with a damp cloth repeatedly, occasionally re-wetting the cloth with alcohol again
Make yourself comfortable, because alcohol, takes 30 minutes to soak in. Alcohol takes time to suck in the ink so be patient!
Step 3. To avoid damage, clean the area with warm water and vinegar
A quarter cup of vinegar to 1 liter of water is a good ratio (that's 1:16). The alcohol will dry out the carpet, depending on the texture, so cleaning this area is a good idea.
If the stain is gone, clean it with clean water and let it dry. Vacuum the area if the carpet fibers are a little too soft
Step 4. If the stain still remains, coat it with shaving cream
Leave it for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, remove the cream and wipe it off with a mixture of water and vinegar.
Now, your carpet stains are definitely gone. Rinse with plain water and marvel at the spotless carpet
Method 2 of 4: Lubricants
Step 1. Spray a lubricant such as WD-40 or Triflow on the stain
Leave it for a few minutes. Note: "'It's highly recommended to do the test on carpets that are not in use, as lubricants can stain the carpet "'permanently"' which will result in more severe stains than before.
The use of WD-40 is a safe choice. If you have a lot of lubricant options, go for it
Step 2. Wipe the stain with a sponge and warm, soapy water
Carpet cleaners can also be used but why use other products if soap is enough? Massage the soap into the stain, removing the lubricant and ink.
Step 3. Rinse with warm water
Even soap can leave residue, so rinse it off with warm water. Also clean the tip of the stain because that part is sometimes missed.
Step 4. Let dry
Your carpet will look like new! Wipe with your fingers or vacuum to get the texture back to normal.
Method 3 of 4: Mixture of Detergent, Ammonia and Vinegar
Step 1. Make the detergent mixture
In 1 cup water add 1 tsp (5 g) liquid dish soap. Spray this mixture on the stain several times.
Dawn or Joy work well, but any dish soap will do
Step 2. Press the stain with a clean white cloth
Same as the previous two methods, "'don't"' rub the stain; because it will only make the stain deeper into the carpet. Press slowly, in an up and down motion.
Step 3. Make a mixture of ammonia
As you would with detergent, spray a mixture of 1 tbsp (15 g) of ammonia in 1/2 cup water. Gently wipe the stain with a different clean cloth.
If you don't have a spray bottle, try making a replacement from an old hairspray or perfume bottle. If not, do the usual way by dripping
Step 4. Mix one part vinegar with one part water
Then what do you do? right--wipe gently with a clean cloth. The stain is visually gone, huh? good!
Step 5. Reapply detergent mixture to remove residue
You basically clean your carpet after applying ammonia. Otherwise, you will damage your carpet with the chemical.
Step 6. Rinse with clean water and let dry
To remove ammonia, vinegar and soap from carpet, rinse with clean water, wipe gently and let dry. If you see it and it's still very stiff, rinse again.
Wipe with your finger. how does it feel? not perfect? use a vacuum and vacuum a few times--it will definitely fix it
Method 4 of 4: Shaving Cream
Step 1. Spray and apply shaving cream
Step 2. Rinse with plenty of water
There will be foam but that's okay.
Step 3. Rinse
Add more water.
Step 4. Vacuum the water
The stain will disappear, if not, try again.
Tips
- If you use inked pens frequently, take them to your workplace in a bowl or other place. This way if you spill it, you the ink will only fall into the bowl and not the carpet.
- Some people believe that an absorbent material (such as salt or cornstarch) placed on a fresh stain will soak it in. Leave it for a day, and watch the stain disappear. If you also believe you can try it.
Warning
- Do not pour alcohol directly onto the stain, as this will spread the ink.
- Any method of removing the stain will damage the carpet. Try any technique into a small, invisible area of the carpet before moving on.
- Make sure not to rub the cloth against the ink stain, this will allow the stain to sink deeper into the carpet.
