With Kanye West and Adidas launching new Yeezy products every year on a regular basis, many people are trying to take advantage of making clone sneakers. To make sure you get the real thing and don't waste your money buying a pair of knockoffs, pay attention to the design, materials, and prices of each pair of shoes. That way, recognizing a fake pair of Yeezy shoes will be easy!
Step
Part 1 of 3: Checking the Logo and Label
Step 1. Check if there is a very large Adidas logo
There's something in common with fake Yeezy shoes: they don't all use the right-sized logo in the design. As an Adidas or Kanye fan, you'll notice that a pair of fake Yeezy shoes has the Adidas logo taking up more space.
- This also applies to the “YZY” logo printed on the side.
- Check out the side to check out Adidas' famous three-leaf design!
Step 2. Look for the words "Sample Made in China" on the size label
If the label has these words, along with any additional information, including the name of the shoe, it is not a real Yeezy shoe.
On genuine shoes, the label will simply say "Made in China," along with the barcode, and the usual size and gender specifications and serial number
Step 3. Look for white writing on the insole of the shoe
If they were fake shoes, the writing on both insoles would be white, and the words would not be a reflection of each other.
- The caption should read “adidas YEEZY” with three Adidas leaves in between.
- The writing on the insole should not be a bright white, but a dark gray that almost blends in with the background color.
- The insoles must be a reflection of each other.
Step 4. Check for misaligned "SPLV-350" text
This writing is wrong and is characteristic of a fake pair of Yeezy shoes.
- The fake shoes have the letter "V" instead of the correct "W".
- The letters on the fake shoes are curved upwards, while the original Yeezy shoes are straight.
Part 2 of 3: Paying Attention to Stitches and Patterns
Step 1. Look for messy seams
On fake Yeezy shoes, the seams will form a messy criss-cross. The original shoes have neat stitches that form an "X" on both sides with a dividing square.
Step 2. Count the number of red dots on the back of the shoe
Fake Yeezy shoes can have any number of dots, but real Yeezy shoes have exactly 9 dots in the center of the fabric lining.
The dots outside the rectangular section are not included
Step 3. See if the lines on the back of the shoe blend in naturally
On fake Yeezy shoes, the stripes look like prints.
Step 4. Check the quality of the material
A quick way to confirm the authenticity of a shoe is to assess the material. Fake Yeezy shoes have a softer fabric, so it's easy to spot a fake.
The tongue of the shoe is another easy feature to tell if it's authentic. Fake Yeezy shoes have a softer material so the tongue feels more limp, while the original has a tongue that stands up straighter
Part 3 of 3: Considering Price and Packaging
Step 1. Don't mind the new Yeezy shoes that cost less than IDR 3,000,000
The Yeezy is a luxury item, and that shows in its price. If the price seems too cheap, beware: it's usually a fake.
- The Yeezy 500 was launched on July 7, 2018 and the price was listed at IDR 3,000,000.
- The original 2 year old Yeezy shoes are being resold for IDR 23,000,000.
- If you find Yeezy shoes for Rp. 1,500,000 and they are not on sale or out of stock, don't buy them!
Step 2. Buy from a trusted place
Yeezy was created in collaboration with Adidas. So, to make sure you're getting genuine shoes, buy them from stores that sell Adidas and follow the company's info to get the latest news.
Adidas gives shoppers the option to register to receive the latest news about Yeezy
Step 3. Check the packing box details
Don't think you'll get real shoes right away when your order arrives – the packaging can be a powerful trait! The fake Yeezy has a rougher looking box, while the original Yeezy has a smoother packaging with invisible edges.
