Spilling a drink is embarrassing, but sometimes unavoidable. Your hands may be shaking so you have a hard time holding a cup or glass without spilling the contents, or maybe you've been spilling drinks too often lately. We'll show you how to walk holding a cup, glass or plate without spilling.
Step
Step 1. Walk slowly
Scientists have found that the size of a cup of coffee is just right for creating ripples in the cup as we walk. The faster we walk, the faster and stronger the ripples. You know what will happen next. Flying coffee! By walking more slowly, the sympathetic vibrations are reduced and your drink won't spill.
Step 2. View your drink
Watch your drink, not your feet. This will not only help you walk more slowly. By focusing on the drink, you will be aware of and continuously make adjustments to the ripples that occur in the beverage container.
Step 3. Don't rush
The slower you walk, the easier it will be to keep your drink from spilling. By not moving in a hurry, it will be easier for you to keep your drink in the container instead of spilling it all over the place. Pay attention to your surroundings because if you bump into or even nearly collide with someone else, your drink could spill.
Step 4. Hold the glass or plate with both hands
This will make it easier for you to control the glass. Better to go back and forth than trying to carry plates and glasses at the same time.
Step 5. Don't take drinks on an empty stomach
Eat a snack, or drink juice and eat fruit if you are going to a meal. Holding anything on an empty stomach is harder than usual.
Step 6. Know which hand is strong and can be used to carry what
If you use one hand to carry drinks, use a firm hand. If you're using two hands, use a firm hand to control the splash from inside the glass and use the other hand as a support.
Step 7. Know your limits
You won't be able to bring soup on a tray if you have tremors. Avoid that or you can just dip the bread in it.
Step 8. Carry the tray with one arm under the tray
Your arms are stronger than your palms. Also avoid placing tall glasses on trays. You can place a tall glass on a tray, but hold the glass and tray with both hands.
Tips
- Practice the various techniques above at home before putting them into practice.
- Do not fill the glass until it is too full. Leave some space so your drink doesn't spill.
- Use a glass with a lid, especially when you bring coffee. Spilling coke is gross. However, spilling hot coffee is dangerous.
- If none of the above techniques work, enlist the help of someone else to carry your food and drink or cut your food into small pieces.
- Put a spoon in your drink. The spoon will act as a barrier and reduce the shock of the liquid.
