You can purchase content from the Playstation Store by opening the store app, logging into your PSN account, adding content to the shopping cart, and confirming the purchase. The same process can be done via the Playstation Store website from a computer web browser.

Method 1 of 2: Via Playstation System
Step 1. Open Playstation Store
- On PS4, this option is at the far left of the app's motion banner.
- On a PS3 or PSP, this option is in the Games section of the app banner.
Step 2. Sign in to your account (if prompted)
- You will need to enter the email address associated with the account and password.
- If you don't have an account yet, you can create one first. It is possible that you already created an account when setting up the system for the first time.
Step 3. Use the left sidebar to browse for the desired media
- The Playstation Store offers games, movies, and television shows for purchase.
- You can also use the Search options at the top to search for specific titles or names of content.
Step 4. Press the X button while selecting content to view the details
Step 5. Tap Add to Cart
Step 6. Tap Proceed to Checkout
- If you want to add more content, press Continue Shopping and repeat the previous steps.
- To remove content from the shopping cart, select the “C” icon next to the content name using the arrow keys, then press the X button.
Step 7. Press Confirm Purchase
The content will be added to the download list. Once downloaded, the content can be accessed through the library (“Library”).
- If you want to set up or add a new payment method, you can do so via the Settings → Account Management → Account Information → Wallet menu on the PS4. For PS3 or PSP, try searching for articles on setting up or adding a new payment method from the internet or wikiHow.
- You may be asked to enter your account password to complete a purchase if this security feature is enabled.
Method 2 of 2: Via Website
Step 1. Visit https://store.playstation.com via a web browser
Step 2. Click Sign in
If you don't have an account yet, click Create Account and create a new account first
Step 3. Enter the account login information
You will need to enter the email address associated with the account and password
Step 4. Click the Add to Cart button
When you're not viewing content, this button looks like a shopping cart with an arrow pointing downwards.
- You can click on the content to see more information about the content.
- You can browse content by platform (PS4, PS3, or PSP) or media type (games, movies, television shows). You can also use the search bar to search for a specific title or content name.
Step 5. Click Show Cart
Step 6. Click Proceed to Checkout
If you want to add more content, click Continue Shopping and repeat the previous steps
Step 7. Click Confirm Purchase
- If you want to set up or add a new payment method, you can do so through the Account Settings → Wallet menu.
- You may be asked to enter your account password to complete a purchase if this security feature is enabled.
Tips
- A PSN account is required to purchase content from the store and can be created for free (unless you subscribe to the PS Plus service).
- If you experience slow download speeds, try using the PS system in rest mode (“Rest Mode”). The download will continue (and usually at a higher speed), but you won't be able to use the system or platform in that mode.
- Make sure you have enough hard disk space before purchasing content. You can check the remaining storage space in the Settings → Storage Management menu on PS4 or Settings → System Settings → System Information on PS3 or PSP.
