Changing hairstyles with the occasional straightening is fun. If you're afraid of the heat damage from the flat iron or don't have the time to do it, you can have straight hair by simply blow drying it. Try one of the following ways to get your new look.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Wash and Rough Dry Your Hair
Step 1. Wash your hair thoroughly
Make sure your hair is free of dirt, oil, and chemical residue. Apply conditioner to your hair, especially at the roots and ends. Then gently comb your hair with a wide-toothed comb to distribute the conditioner throughout your hair. Leave it for a few minutes and then rinse your hair thoroughly using warm water.
Step 2. Gently comb your hair from the tips to the roots using a wide-toothed comb
Using a wide-toothed comb will reduce the tension in your hair, which is important because wet hair is very brittle and can break easily.
Step 3. Dry your hair slightly to reduce excess water on the hair
Gently run your fingers through your hair from the roots to the tips, and squeeze your hair to remove the water. Use a clean, dry towel to absorb water by patting your head and squeezing your hair. You may need 2 towels if your hair is long or very thick.
Step 4. Use hair care products that can protect your hair from heat and help you get the hairstyle you want
Reading the instructions for use on each product carefully will help you use the product properly. But when using a treatment product, you usually have to apply it to the roots of your hair, then spread it along the length of your hair to the tips of your hair.
- If you want a classic straight hairstyle, you will need a heat protectant and a leave-in treatment that has a straightening effect.
- If you want to add volume to your hair, start by applying mousse. Apply it along your hair from the roots to the tips. Then apply Argan Oil along your hair to below the chin. Argan Oil is a very light oil that can protect your hair from heat. The amount of product you use may vary depending on how long and thick your hair is.
Step 5. Rough dry your hair. The rough dry method is to use your hands when blowing your hair (instead of using a comb/brush). Start by placing your fingers on your scalp, combing your hair with your fingers up to add volume or downwards for straight, neat hair, and follow up with your blow dryer held at a 45 degree angle. Blow dry your hair to 80% dry.
Step 6. Part your hair into sections 2.54cm wide each
If you want to make sure your hair is fuller, these sections should not be more than the width of the brush or higher than the length of the teeth of the comb.
- Start with your back hair. You can divide your hair into 2.54 cm wide sections using a sasak comb.
- Make a horizontal section near your ears to separate the section of your hair that is just above the nape of the neck from the rest of your hair. Hold the top of your hair to the top of your head using an elastic band or a large bobby pin.
- You can divide the entire lower section of your hair into sections with a squeezing comb and pin it before you start blowing, or you can also section your hair into sections while you're blowing.
- Part your hair from the bottom up and then around your head. You can part all of your hair at once, or you can save time and bobby pins by parting and blowing at the same time.
Method 2 of 3: Get Classic Straight Hair
Step 1. Straighten your hair using a brush comb and blow dryer with a nozzle (extra funnel)
You will need a flat brush comb and a wide, flat nozzle for your blow dryer. The nozzle will direct a concentrated blast of heat to your hair. Which hand you use to hold the blow dryer and comb you can determine according to your convenience, and also depends on whether you are left-handed or not. It's a good idea to hold your comb vertically and your blow dryer horizontally for "modern curls".
Step 2. Stretch your hair using a comb
Stretching your hair will help you get a smooth blow. Place the comb at the roots of your hair, hold the handle of the comb and twist it slightly to get a firm grip that doesn't hurt you or damage your hair. Slide your comb along the hair shaft from the roots to the tips downwards. When the comb is near the ends of your hair, you can point it wherever you want the ends of your hair to go.
Step 3. Blow dry your hair from the bottom up and around your head
Once you've finished blowing the back hair, move on to the section above. Do the same way to straighten the hair in this section. Continue dividing and straightening the parted hair until most of the hair is straight.
Step 4. Complete your hair look
Once you've straightened all the sections of your hair, apply a finishing serum to smooth out any frizz and make your hair shine. Then set your hair style as you wish. You can show off your new hair by letting it loose or tying it back. Now you can also part your hair as you wish, whether it's a side part or a middle part. Another suggestion for your hairstyle: pull your hair back, clip some hair in the front, or pull your hair up and tie it in a ponytail.
Method 3 of 3: Get Filled Straight Hair
Step 1. Straighten your hair in sections using a comb and blow dryer with a nozzle
To get straight, thick hair you will need a round brush comb with a mixture of nylon and boar bristles. You should also make sure that your blow dryer has a wide, flat nozzle to direct the heat to your hair. Hold your blow dryer and comb in whichever hand you feel most comfortable with. It usually depends on whether you are left-handed or not. Hold your comb upright and blow dryer horizontally for more modern curls.
- Starting with the back of your hair, place the comb at the roots and twist the comb so that the hair is tightly wrapped around the comb. By doing this, the hair will be stretched and you can get a smooth blow. To get the volume you want, pull the comb up and back along your hair, and direct your blow dry with the comb.
- Once you're done with the back hair, on the top, grab most of your hair. Separate into sections and blow in the same way as before. Work from the bottom up and around your head, making sure you brush your hair in an upward motion for volume and curls.
Step 2. Concentrate on adding volume to the hair on the top of your head
The thickness of your hair will be more visible at the top of your head, so you should put more effort into adding volume to your hair in this section. By blowing your hair from the bottom up and around your head, there will be a section of hair that is left in a U-shaped area. Grab the roots of your hair with a comb to stretch them and then pull your comb and blow dryer in an upward motion.
Step 3. Blow cool air on the top of your straightened hair
Once you've finished straightening your entire section of hair, wrap the hair at the top of your head in a comb and blow with cool air. Cooling the hair can help maintain volume and curls.
Step 4. Style your hair the way you want
You are ready to show off your new hair. Now that your hair is dry and plump, you can choose the position of your parting whether it's on the side or in the middle. We recommend that you let your hair down to maintain the volume of your hair.
Tips
- Use medium heat on a low setting to straighten the hair along your hairline.
- Combing your hair upwards while you blow will add volume to your hair. Combing your hair downwards will make your hair limp.
- Always stretch your hair for a smooth blow.
- Follow the directions for using hair care products to ensure that you are using them correctly. Too much use can weigh your hair down and the results won't turn out the way you want. Too little use can leave your hair unprotected and brittle from direct heat.
- Always blow backwards and not the other way around.
Attention
- Never leave the blow dryer in one position continuously. Always move the blow dryer around so you don't burn your hair.
- Too much heat can dry out and scorch your hair and make it more difficult to get the style you want.
- Don't part your hair while it's still wet. Blowing your hair in half will force you to leave it that way and you'll lose volume.
