Hamsters are good pets and easily get along with their owners. Unfortunately, due to their short lifespan, every hamster master has to face the death of his pet. Losing a beloved pet can be overwhelming and painful. However, there are steps you can take to deal with the loss and separation from your hamster.

Part 1 of 2: Holding a Ceremony
Step 1. Prepare for the funeral
Before burying the hamster and performing the ceremony that feels appropriate, you need to prepare a few things. Good preparation will ensure the ceremony goes smoothly and your farewell can be meaningful. Collect the following items to prepare for your hamster's funeral:
- Container for hamsters. We recommend using cardboard, cloth, or paper containers instead of plastic.
- Personal items for the ceremony, such as flowers or candles.
- Tools for digging hamster graves.
- Cemetery marker.
Step 2. Bury your hamster
After finding a good grave site and preparing all the equipment, it's time to bury your hamster. You will need to dig deep enough to properly bury your hamster so that it doesn't disturb birds or other animals.
- Dig a hole deep enough for the hamster to fit in. Try to dig about 60 cm deep.
- Put the hamster in a container with a lid, then place the container in the dug hole.

- Denial is usually the first feeling that arises during a period of mourning. You will feel more distrusted than lost.
- Anger is a reaction to the pain of loss.
- Hope is the phase when a person wonders and asks if he can save or prevent loss in some way.
- Depression is usually felt just before the acceptance phase. This is a time of silent sadness before letting go of the pet.
- Acceptance is the final stage when you accept and acknowledge your loss.
Step 2. Talk to someone
