Crocs are light and comfortable shoes, which makes them popular for everyday wear. After Crocs are worn while gardening or walking in the wild, these footwear certainly need to be cleaned. You can clean Crocs with soapy water until they sparkle in no time.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Washing Rubber Crocs
Step 1. Rinse the Crocs with plain water
Before doing a deep cleaning, rinse the rubber Crocs with clean water. This will remove the outer layer of dirt and reduce the area that needs scrubbing.
Step 2. Mix mild soap with warm water in a bucket
Add a small amount of mild soap or dish soap along with a bucket of warm water. You can also plug the sink plug and wash the Crocs there. Mix soap and water until dissolved.
- The warm water will help break down the dirt and the warm soapy water will keep it from being damaged by harsh chemicals.
- If the Crocs are very hard, you can add as much bleach as a bottle cap to the water and stir until combined.
Step 3. Soak the Crocs in a bucket or sink while continuing to scrub
Once you've made the soap mixture, put the Crocs in a bucket or sink and soak. Crocs don't need to be soaked for a certain amount of time before washing, but rub them while they're soaking.
Step 4. Scrub the dirt with a brush or rag
When the Crocs are soaking, use a brush or washcloth to scrub off the dirt. It usually takes a few minutes, depending on the level of soiling of the shoes.
Use a toothbrush to scrub holes or other hard-to-reach places in your shoes. This toothbrush should only be used to clean shoes
Step 5. Use a regular or branded magic eraser for stubborn stains
If the dirt residue is not clean, try using Mr. magic eraser. Clean. This product is designed for stubborn stains and requires only water. There is also a more generic and no less powerful version at a cheaper price. Rub the eraser until the stain disappears.
Magic Eraser brand Mr. Clean and generic versions can be purchased at pharmacies, supermarkets, or major retailers. If you can't find it in a store, try buying it online
Step 6. Rinse the shoes and dry completely
Once you've removed the dirt from your Crocs shoes, rinse them with cool, clean water. You can dry the Crocs with a towel, or let them air dry.
If you're aerating Crocs, don't leave them in the sun too long; heat can damage Crocs
Method 2 of 3: Cleaning the Winter Upholstery
Step 1. Choose an absorbent powder to help remove dirt
If you need to remove minor stains or odors from winter lining on Crocs like sheepskin (sheepskin), try preparing an absorbent powder to absorb dirt and grease from the shoe lining, and help get rid of strong odors.
- Cornstarch, dry oatmeal, and wheat germ can be used as absorbent powders in neutral colors that go well with most coatings.
- If the Crocs have a colored coating, use salt or baking soda as an absorbent powder.
Step 2. Sprinkle the powder onto the winter coating
Make sure you cover all the coating with powder and twist the Crocs in your hand to sprinkle them from another angle.
The salt won't stick to the coating as well as other powders, so add a little more to make it work
Step 3. Let the powder sit for 3 hours before discarding it
When 3 hours have passed, shake the shoe to remove the powder. It's best to do it over the trash can, sink, or outdoors. If there are still powder particles that don't come out, use a hand vacuum cleaner or a hose to clean them.
To soften the upholstery of your shoes, you can use a wire wool brush. Rub in one direction so the sheepskin doesn't roll
Step 4. Dry the sheepskin if needed
Sheepskin will not look the same after washing so you should wash it with water as often as possible. If it's very dirty, take it to a dry-cleaner so that the texture can be restored by a professional.
Step 5. Wash the upholstery manually if you don't want to use a dry-clean service
If the sheepskin layer is very dirty but you don't want to take it to a dry-cleaner, try washing it manually. Soak the upholstery in sheepskin shampoo and warm water, then rinse with clean water before drying.
- Sheepskin takes 1-2 days before drying.
- To help get rid of the dirt, shake the sheepskin in the shampoo and water while soaking.
Method 3 of 3: Rubbing Crocs Canvas
Step 1. Remove shoelaces and soak in soapy water, if needed
If the canvas Crocs have shoelaces, scrub them with soapy water. If it is dry, rinse it with clean water and air it.
- Use a mild soap, such as detergent, dish soap, or hand soap. This ensures that the canvas is not damaged by harsh chemicals.
- You can use cold or warm water. Just make sure the water isn't too hot to damage the canvas.
Step 2. Gently rub the soap on the canvas with a toothbrush
Dip a toothbrush designed for cleaning the house or other small brush in soapy water and scoop up some of the suds with the brush. Test it in an inconspicuous area first to make sure the soap doesn't damage the fabric of the shoe. Rub the toothbrush against the canvas until the shoes are clean.
Do not rub the labels or prints on the shoes so they don't come off
Step 3. Use a clothing stain remover product for stubborn stains
If your Crocs canvas has stains that won't go away with a toothbrush, try doing a spot treatment with a stain remover product that you usually use on clothes. Follow the product directions, but make sure you let the stain sit for about 10 minutes before rinsing off the stain remover.
Step 4. Rinse the canvas with a sponge to get rid of the soap
Take a sponge or cloth and dip it in clean water. Squeeze the sponge or cloth so the water doesn't drip. Then use it to rinse the shoes until all the soap is clean.
- You have to wring out the cloth and sponge. Do not let the shoes get soaked after cleaning.
- You can also use a sponge or cloth to rinse off any dirt on the soles of your shoes, if needed.
Step 5. Use a towel to absorb the remaining water before airing the shoes to dry
Pat the shoes with a towel to absorb any excess water. When the shoes are dry, you can air them in a warm place, such as a sunroom or fireplace.
Do not dry the shoes in the sun because the fabric will lose its color
Tips
- Crocs will warp if they are exposed to heat and sunlight for too long. Don't leave Crocs in a hot car or put in the dryer or washing machine.
- Do a Spot clean on winter-coated Crocs using a cloth dipped in soapy water and scrubbing the dirt off the Crocs.
- If Crocs have a strong odor, try burying them in cat litter or soaking them in a rubber-safe enzyme solution.
- Crocsbutter is a polish made especially for Crocs and is able to restore the shine of shoes as before.
- If you have custom Crocs shoes made of leather, suede, or mesh, use a product specifically made for those materials.
