Activating a Visa debit card is quite easy and fast. The process of activating a Visa debit card is almost the same for every bank. You can call the phone number listed to activate the debit card and create a new PIN. You can also activate it through a bank, ATM, or by shopping at a store that accepts Visa. Whichever method you choose, the Visa debit card can be used immediately!
Step
Method 1 of 3: Activate the Debit Card by Calling the Number Listed
Step 1. Call the phone number listed
Generally, on new debit cards there is a sticker containing the phone number to activate it. If not, call the customer service phone number listed on the back of the card.
Step 2. Follow the guidelines to list the required information
You must enter the card number, 4 digit expiration date, and 3 digit CVV code on the back of the card.
Step 3. Create a PIN number
You must create a PIN (Personal Identification Number) to use debit cards, ATMs, and make debit transactions. You will be asked to enter your PIN twice. This is done to make sure your PIN is correct. Remember the PIN number so that it can be used at any time.
Create a unique PIN number (different from other credit card PINs) to maintain your security and privacy
Method 2 of 3: Activate Debit Card via Bank
Step 1. Contact the bank to activate the debit card
Contact the bank and provide information to verify your identity. After that, ask the bank employee to activate your debit card. Tell the bank employee the card number, expiration date, CVV code, and other required information. You may have to specify the PIN number you want to use.

If you're using a mobile banking app, open the app and sign in to your account. Look for the option that says “debit card activation”, then follow the prompts to activate it.
Step 3. Visit the bank's website to activate the debit card online
Many banks provide online debit card activation services. Visit the bank's website, log in to your account, then click the “Customer Service” menu. After that, find the option to activate the debit card and follow the instructions listed.
Step 4. Visit the bank to activate the debit card directly
You can visit the nearest bank branch to activate the debit card. Bring a debit card and personal data, such as a driver's license or ID card. Give the debit card and ID card to the teller to activate the card.
Method 3 of 3: Activate Debit Card Using PIN
Step 1. Use the old PIN number
If you have already created a Visa debit card and need to activate a replacement card, you can use your old card's PIN number to activate it.
Step 2. Shop using a Visa debit card to activate it
You can buy groceries, gas, or anything else at a store that accepts Visa cards. Use a debit card as a payment method. Enter the old debit card PIN number when prompted. This will activate your new debit card.
This method can be done if you already have a PIN number
Step 3. Activate the debit card by making a deposit or withdrawal at an ATM
Use your bank's ATM. Insert a debit card and then enter your old PIN. Use the card to make deposits or withdrawals. By doing this, the new debit card will be active.
