You're finally in your teens! Since it's your first birthday as a teenager, you'll want a cool party! 13th birthdays can be a bit tricky to plan. Do you like a lot of games, or a more mature atmosphere as a sign of starting adolescence? Everyone has their own idea of the party they like. The possibilities are endless, just make sure all your guests are happy.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Assessing Your Choices
Step 1. Discuss some ideas with friends
The first thing you need is to come up with an idea of how your party can be organized. Try asking a close friend and look for some of the possibilities. They know you well, and can tell you if you have a bad idea and give you other suggestions if you can't think of something.
Make sure you make something you love, but also make your friends happy when you celebrate with them
Step 2. Share your idea with your parents
When you have some ideas, before you get too excited, tell your parents first. They will manage and of course know more about fees and what is not allowed. They may disappoint you by not being overly enthusiastic about a big party, but you need to be able to understand it and work with it. They really want you to be happy!
Don't be rude and sulk at your parents, this kind of attitude won't help
Step 3. Decide whether you will host the party at home or elsewhere
After getting some ideas and talking to parents, the first big decision is whether to do something at home or go somewhere else. Each has its advantages and disadvantages, so think about what's fun and plan with friends and family.
If celebrated at home, determine which rooms are not allowed by guests. Your parents won't like it when a teenager roams into their room
Step 4. Determine how many people to invite
The next step is to determine the number of people to invite to the party. You might want to celebrate with some close friends and family, or throw a big party with classmates. What you'll do will depend on what kind of party you're having, but it's best if you have an idea of the numbers before you plan too much.
- If you want to celebrate in a small way, be prepared to be teased by your classmates.
- Avoid getting caught in an unpleasant situation when you invite more than one/two classmates.
- Do you want mixed guests (girls and boys), all girls, or all boys? Talk to your parents and make sure they agree with your choice.
Step 5. Set the date
Choose the right date to celebrate your 13th birthday party. Usually, this date will be around your birthday, although there is no rule that requires it. Try to do it on the weekends, or at least on Friday evenings. You can also celebrate it on holidays. Be careful, if your birthday falls in the holiday season, maybe some friends are on vacation.
Make sure you check to see if any of your friends are celebrating a party close to your date. Don't let your friends get confused between going to your party or that person if it's the same day
Step 6. Choose a theme or an activity
Now that you know how big your party will be, the date it will be, and whether you will be celebrating at home or out, then you can think of a theme. There are lots of possibilities here, talk to friends and family and try to think of something really fun and special. A theme is a great option for celebrating a party. Here are some ideas you can follow:
- Skate party
- Stay party
- Poolside party (at your home pool or at a public pool)
- Retro party (themed 1950, 1960, 1970, 1980, 1990, etc.)
- Hawaiian, Hollywood, etc. themed parties.
- Murder mystery themed party
- Party at the spa (either at home or at a commercial spa)
- makeover party
- Movie parties (either at the theater or at your home)
- Camping parties (whether in nature or your backyard)
- Game show themes like American Idol, Survivor, Amazing Race, America's Next Top Model, etc.)
- Go to the amusement park
- Go horseback riding with friends
- Dance party (either at your home or at the ballroom)
- Beach party
- Go to a concert
Part 2 of 3: Preparing for the First Step
Step 1. Book your party location
Location is where you will have the party. If you decide to celebrate a party away from home, then you need to book early rather than late. This is important to prevent disappointment. Consider the number of people to invite and make sure you reserve enough locations to accommodate them all. Imagine the space you need to dance in and put your speakers or DJ in.
Celebrating in a place dedicated to hosting the party will make it easier for parents to organize than if the party is celebrated at home
Step 2. Purchase tickets for an event if needed
For certain places, such as in amusement parks or sports events, you must purchase tickets in advance. Do this as early as possible if you don't want to wait in long lines. It's best if you leave this task to your parents, but make sure you know what's going on and your friends know if they have to buy their own tickets.
- Sometimes you can get discounted prices for bulk ticket purchases.
- If you are going to a sports match, take a seat close to each other.
Step 3. Set up the vehicle
When you know where and when to go, you have to consider how everyone can come and go from there. You may have to book a small bus from your home or rent a car. This will be a parental affair with your friend's parents, but make sure everyone is aware of the plans, including yourself.
Step 4. Send invitations
After all the plans are executed properly, you can send invitations. This is an opportunity to show your creative side and how much you want to celebrate birthdays with friends, while setting the mood for your party. You can write invitations by hand, send by email, or invite in person/call your friends. You can also use free services on the internet to create invitations, such as Evite (a website that provides free invitation formats).
- It's even better if you ask guests if they have any allergies. You certainly don't want them to get allergies at your party!
- Don't forget to ask them to RSVP (RSVP: initial confirmation), and make sure whether they come or not. This is very helpful in your planning, and will be useful for organizing meals, vehicles, entertainment, and anything else needed, if you know how many people are coming.
- Write down all the information and location, as well as the date and vehicle available in the invitation.
Part 3 of 3: Making Final Preparations
Step 1. Prepare the food
Plan the amount of these foods wisely. You don't want a bunch of hungry 13-year-olds coming to a party that doesn't provide food. Chips, candy, pretzels, popcorn, juice, fruit, and chocolate are all good examples of snacks. You can also prepare appetizers such as sausage or chicken wings. If you want your guests to stay for a heavy meal (lunch or dinner), you can order pizza, sushi, or Chinese food, or go to a restaurant.
- Make sure you pay attention to the dietary needs of your guests.
- You can prepare food according to your theme.
- Don't forget the cake!
Step 2. Decorate the party location
Although this is not very important, your party room will look better if it is decorated a little. This decoration could be just a few balloons. However, your actual decoration will depend on the location of the party. Decorate as little or as much as you want (and adjust to your financial situation).
- Decorations that match the theme will be very meaningful.
- If you're celebrating an outdoor party, it's usually the staff at the venue who will take care of all the decorations before you get to the venue.
Step 3. Prepare some entertainment
Games and entertainment for a 13th birthday can be overwhelming, because you definitely don't want to play the games you used to play as a kid. Make sure you consult with your parents first to find out what toys you might like. You can keep things simple, using music or movies, depending on the type of party you're having. You can also hire role-players/dancers to enliven the party. You can also play classic games like:
- Twister
- Death wink
- Truth or Dare
- Treasure hunt
- Karaoke
- Riddles
Tips
- Always make sure the guests you invite know each other well. You certainly don't want any fights at your party.
- Bring a camera so you can take photos together while having fun!
- Make sure no one forgets to invite you. You certainly don't want this to happen to you.
- Make sure you always have fun! When you've got everything set up, have fun.
- If you're a girl, don't go overboard with your hair and makeup. Just try it so you look naturally beautiful.
- Don't over-plan; You don't need to make a specific schedule! Teenagers will usually just mess up everything that has been scheduled!
- Make some handmade trinkets or gift bags for friends to take home. These souvenirs are important so your friends can remember that special night when you were a teenager!
- Make sure you ask guests if anyone has any allergies; Allergic reactions can ruin a party.
- At the end of the party, to thank them for coming, you can say hello in person and dance to hip hop all night long by forming two lines to compete against each other's dance techniques!
- Make sure your friends bring their own things if you're hosting a sleepover or pool party. You certainly don't want to loan out swimsuits, pajamas, or panties to friends.
