This wikiHow teaches you how to install apps from the Google Play Store on your Android phone or tablet.
Step
Step 1. Touch the Apps icon
It's an icon at the bottom of the home screen, which is usually a small dot or square inside a circle.
Step 2. Scroll down the screen and tap Play Store
The icon is a colorful triangle inside a white suitcase.
If it's your first time running the Play Store, enter your Google account information and payment details. Follow the instructions given when prompted
Step 3. Type the desired keyword or app name in the search box
The box is at the top of the screen.
- For example, type wikihow if you want to search for an app called wikiHow, or photos to browse through a variety of photo apps.
- If you just want to do a search, skip this search step. Instead, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and carefully read the categories, charts, and suggestions from the Play Store.
Step 4. Touch the Search button
The button is a magnifying glass in the lower right corner of the keyboard.
Step 5. Select the application shown in the search results
The application details page will open. Here, you can check the app's description, read user reviews, and view screenshots.
Many apps have similar names so you might get several results when you search for them. Apps that appear in search results appear in their own "box". Each box contains an app icon, developer, star rating, and price
Step 6. Touch INSTALL
It's a green button below the app's name. If the app is paid for, this green button will contain the price of the app instead of "INSTALL" (eg "$3.5").
When downloading a paid app, you may need to confirm your Google account password first
Step 7. Touch OPEN
If the application has been installed, the " INSTALL " button (or its price) will change to " OPEN ". Run the application for the first time by touching this button.
To run this new app at a later time, touch the Apps icon on the home screen, then tap the app icon
Tips
- We recommend that you read the reviews first before installing an app. From there, you can get a lot of useful information, such as whether the app is full of ads, not suitable for children, and so on.
- The Play Store will update app recommendations as you continue to download various apps. If you want to see the recommendations, launch the Play Store and scroll down to "Recommended for You".
