This wikiHow teaches you how to change the computer language. This change will affect the text displayed in the program's menus and windows. You can make language changes on Windows and Mac computers. However, changing your computer's primary language will not change the language of your internet browser or other programs.

Method 1 of 2: On Windows
Step 1. Open the “Start” menu
Click the Windows logo that appears in the lower-left corner of the screen.
You can also press the Windows key on your keyboard to open the “Start” menu
Step 2. Click the “Settings” option
This option is indicated by the gear icon in the lower-left corner of the “Start” menu window.
Step 3. Click Time & language
It's in the middle of the “Settings” window.
Step 4. Click the Region & language tab
This tab is at the far left of the window.
Step 5. Click Add a language
It's next to the " + ” in the middle of the page, under the "Languages" section.
Step 6. Select the language you want to add
Click the language you want to use on the computer.
Step 7. Select the desired dialect
If you are taken to a page with various regional dialects after clicking a language, select the desired dialect.

Step 8. Click the added language
The language will be displayed under the language currently being used, in the " Languages " section. After that, a language selection box will be displayed.
Step 9. Click Options
It's below the selected language. After that, the language setting selection window will be displayed.
Step 10. Download the language pack
Click the button " Download ” below the "Download language pack" menu heading, in the upper-left corner of the page.
Step 11. Click the “Back” button
It's in the upper-left corner of the screen.
Step 12. Click the language you want to use again, then click the Set as default button
This button is below the language name. After that, the language will be moved to the top row of the “Languages” segment and set as the primary language for all Windows built-in menus, applications, and display options.
Step 13. Restart the computer
Open the "Start" menu, click " Power ”
and select " Restart " After the computer restarts and you log in to your account, the language you have selected will be displayed as the display language for the computer interface.
Method 2 of 2: On Mac
Step 1. Open Apple menu
Click the Apple logo in the upper-left corner of the screen. After that, a drop-down menu will be displayed.
Step 2. Click the System Preferences option
It's at the top of the drop-down menu.
Step 3. Select Language & Region
This option is indicated by the flag icon displayed at the top of the “System Preferences” window.
Step 4. Click the + button
It's in the lower-left corner of the " Preferred language: " box, on the left side of the " Language & Region " window. After that, a pop-up menu with various language options will be displayed.
Step 5. Scroll to the screen and select the desired language, then click Add
Step 6. Click the Use [preferred language] button when prompted
This blue button appears in the lower-right corner of the screen. After that, the selected language will be set as the computer interface display.
