The “Sleep”/“Wake” button is in the upper-right corner of the device. Press and hold the button until you see the Apple logo on the screen. The iPod will be loaded and ready to use.

At the top of iPod Shuffle, you'll find the switch. If the switch is green, the iPod is on. If you don't see the green indicator, the device is still off. Slide the switch to turn on iPod Nano.

If you have an iPod Classic or iPod Nano generation 1 to 5, the “Hold” switch may be in the locked position, preventing the device from turning on. If the switch displays an orange indicator, it is in the locked position. Slide the switch to the open position. After that, try restarting the iPod.

Even if it is in the open position, there is a possibility that the “Hold” switch will still prevent the device from turning on. Slide the switch from the open position to the locked position, then change it back to the open position
