This wikiHow teaches you how to back up photos from the “Camera Roll” folder to the Memories section of Snapchat. Snapchat automatically backs up all photos stored in the “Snaps” folder to the Memories section. To add photos from the “Camera Roll” folder to this backup folder, you can export them as Stories, and save the contents of those Stories, instead of sharing them on Snapchat. This step can be done easily on an Android device, iPhone, or iPad, but the options can be quite tricky to find. Once you know where it is, it's easy to back up photos from the “Camera Roll” folder to Snapchat!

Method 1 of 2: On Android Device
Step 1. Open Snapchat on your phone or tablet
This app is marked by a yellow icon with a white ghost in it. Snapchat will show the camera window after that.
Step 2. Touch the “Memories” icon
This icon of two overlapping images is at the bottom of the screen, just to the left of the shutter button.
Step 3. Touch Camera Roll
This tab is at the top of the “Memories” page. While you can see the “Camera Roll” folder in Snapchat, you can see the message “Your Camera Roll isn't backed up by Snapchat “at the top of the screen.
Step 4. Touch and hold the image you want to back up to the Memories section
After touching and holding an image, the menu at the bottom of the screen will expand and a tick will appear on the image inset. If you want to back up more than one image, touch the inset of other images to insert a tick.
Step 5. Touch the “Export” icon
It's a sideways “V” icon with three dots at the bottom of the screen.
Step 6. Touch the Snapchat icon on the menu
The selected images will be displayed as if you were planning to upload them as a Story. However, don't worry! You don't have to share the images publicly!
Step 7. Touch Save
This option is at the bottom of the image.
Step 8. Select Save to Memories
Since the pictures are already saved to the “Camera Roll” folder, you only need to save them to the Memories section at this point. The selected photos will be backed up to the “Snaps” folder in the Memories section.
Touch the button “ X ” at the top of the screen to hide the image display.
Step 9. Touch the Snaps tab to view the pictures that have been backed up
It's in the top-left corner of the screen. All pictures in this folder will automatically be backed up to Snapchat. Even if you delete and reinstall Snapchat, the backed up pictures will still be saved in that folder.
Method 2 of 2: On iPhone or iPad
Step 1. Open Snapchat on your phone or tablet

Step 4. Touch and hold the image you want to back up to the Memories section

Step 5. Touch More
It's the three horizontal dots icon at the bottom of the screen.
Step 6. Touch Create Story
Do not worry. You don't need to share those images to the Story segment. This is just a trick to back up pictures to “Snaps” folder.
Step 7. Touch the Save Story button at the bottom of the screen
This button is below the list of selected photos. If the keys are hidden by the keyboard, simply swipe the image list upwards to close the keyboard. After the "Save Story" button disappears, the pictures are saved to the "Snaps" folder in the Memories section.
Touch the down arrow icon in the upper left corner of the screen to hide the image display
Step 8. Touch the Snaps tab to view the pictures that have been backed up
It's in the top-left corner of the screen. All pictures in this folder will automatically be backed up to Snapchat. Even if you delete and reinstall Snapchat, the photos will still be saved in this folder.
