This wikiHow teaches you how to use WhatsApp on a Windows or macOS computer to send messages to contacts. Get your Android phone or iPhone ready as you will need it to log into your WhatsApp account.
Step
Step 1. Visit https://www.whatsapp.com/ via a web browser
As long as you have a WhatsApp account, you can use the desktop app to send messages from your computer.
Step 2. Click Mac or Windows PC
This option is in the left column.
Step 3. Click the Download button
It's a large green button at the bottom of the right column. The WhatsApp installation file will be downloaded to your computer.
You may need to click the “ Save " or " Save File ” to complete the download.
Step 4. Install WhatsApp
Double-click the installation file (with the extension “.exe” for Windows and “.dmg” for macOS), then follow the on-screen instructions to install the application. Once the installation is complete, the app will launch and display a QR code that needs to be scanned using the phone.
Step 5. Open WhatsApp on Android phone or iPhone
This app is indicated by a green and white handset icon which is usually displayed on the home screen or page/app drawer (if you are using an Android device).
Step 6. Open WhatsApp web on Android device or iPhone
The steps to follow differ depending on the phone you're using:

Android Devices:
Touch the button “ ⋯" and select " WhatsApp Web/Desktop ”.

iPhones:
Touch the option “ Settings, then select WhatsApp Web/Desktop ”.
Step 7. Align the QR code on the computer screen with the viewfinder of the phone
WhatsApp on your phone will automatically detect the code and log you into your account on your computer.
You can put your phone back if you want
Step 8. Click the + button on the WhatsApp computer application
It's at the top of the WhatsApp window, on the left side. A list of WhatsApp contacts will be displayed.
Step 9. Click the contact you want to send the message to
A chat window with that contact will open in the right pane.
Step 10. Type in a message
Click the cursor in the typing field at the bottom of the right pane to enter text.
To add an emoji, click the smiley face icon on the left side of the typing field, then click the desired emoji option
Step 11. Click the submit button
It's a paper airplane button in the lower-right corner of the window. The message will be sent to the selected contact.
