In 2019, Apple officially announced the closure of iTunes. When macOS Catalina is released, the iTunes service will be split into the Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, and Apple TV apps. Sending and syncing content to iPhone and iPad can be done through the Finder. Fortunately, there are many websites that offer free music. You can download free music from any of these websites and add it to your iTunes/Apple Music library.

Method 1 of 2: Finding Free Music Files
Step 1. Visit a website that offers free MP3s to download
There are a number of websites that offer free music download services. You may not get the latest popular music, but at least there are a variety of new artists willing to share their work.

Step 2. Download the free mixtape content
Hip-hop musicians, both popular and underground, have embraced new digital ways of networking. This method focuses on free “album” projects known as mixtapes. Just like old mixtapes that musicians send to recording studios, new mixtapes are available to enjoy for free on the internet as a way to advertise new music and maintain a presence and business network among established musicians.

Step 3. Look for new rising artists
Usually, rising artists offer free music on their bandcamp or SoundCloud pages, or on their personal websites. Major artists are also starting to offer music on an “on-demand” payment system.

Step 4. Subscribe to music podcasts
There are many radio shows and music podcasts that play music and allow you to enjoy it for free. You can get a large music collection on YouTube. There are various websites that offer video download services so that you can get files that contain audio tracks extracted from YouTube videos. You just need to paste the Youtube video URL into the website before you can get the MP3 track of the desired music video.
- Listen to YouTube, Tube To MP3, YouTube to MP3, and All2MP3 are free programs that allow you to get audio tracks from YouTube videos. Download and install the program, and copy the video link to the browser. The program will generate an MP3 file containing the audio track of the desired video so you can transfer the file to iTunes afterwards.
- The best trick you can follow is to first search for the artist you want on YouTube, then browse his profile for links to the media sharing site he uses to display his full music discography. Step 6. Get music from friends
Ask a friend with similar musical tastes to make you a CD of their favorite mixes, then add the songs on the CD to your iTunes library. Step 7. Download the Torrent file through a special program

Use a Torrent file search site like Pirate Bay to find a specific Torrent file, then extract and download the file using a Torrent manager program. You can also search for Torrent files through the program itself. Once the files have finished downloading, drag and drop the Torrent extracted music files into the iTunes window to listen to them.
Method 2 of 2: Transferring Music to iTunes
Step 1. Find the downloaded music
Use Windows Explorer or the Finder application on your Mac to find the music files you've downloaded. By default, the downloaded files can be found in the " Downloads " folder. You may also save music in the " Music " folder.
Extract the file if necessary. Large files (eg mixtape) are usually packaged as archive (zip) files that need to be extracted. Newer operating systems usually come with an archive or file extraction feature, but older operating systems may require a third-party program such as WinZip
Step 2. Select the music tracks you want to copy to iTunes
Click the track you want to copy to select it.
- Click and drag the cursor to select a group of files at once.
- To select multiple files individually, hold down Ctrl (⌘ Command on a Mac) and click each track you want to copy.
Step 3. Right-click the selected file and click Copy or Cut.
The selected file will be added to the computer's clipboard (clipboard).

Step 4. Open iTunes
This app is marked by a white icon with two musical notes. Double-click the icon in the “Start” menu on a Windows computer or the “Applications” folder on a Mac to open iTunes.
If you're using macOS Catalina, open Apple Music instead of iTunes
Step 5. Click Library
This option is the first tab at the top of the iTunes window.
Step 6. Click Edit
It's in the menu bar at the top of the iTunes window.
Step 7. Click Paste
The copied tracks will be pasted into your iTunes library.
You can also drag and drop audio files from Windows Explorer or Finder into your iTunes or Apple Music library
Step 8. Connect your iPhone or iPad to the computer
Use the lightning USB cable that came with your device purchase package to connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer.
Step 9. Click the iPhone or iPad icon in the iTunes window
It's on the right side of the drop-down menu, at the top of the iTunes window.
Step 10. Click on Music in the left sidebar
The music library will be displayed.
Step 11. Click the checkbox next to "Sync Music"
This option indicates that you want to send music to your iPhone or iPad.
Step 12. Click Sync
The iTunes music library on your computer will sync to your iPhone or iPad.
