This wikiHow teaches you how to download Spotify songs for offline listening. To download it, you need to create a playlist with the songs you want, while Spotify mobile users can download an album. If you want to save music from Spotify as MP3 files on your computer, you can extract songs from Spotify, but doing so is a violation of Spotify's terms of service and piracy.

Method 1 of 2: Via Mobile Device
Step 1. Make sure you have a Spotify Premium subscription
You can only download songs for offline listening if you subscribe to Spotify Premium.
Your device must also be connected to a WiFi network in order for you to download Spotify music. Songs cannot be downloaded over the cellular data network
Step 2. Open Spotify
Tap the Spotify app icon, which looks like three black horizontal bars on a green background. After that, the Spotify main page will be displayed if you are already logged in to your account.
If not, touch the button “ LOG IN ”, then enter your Spotify account email address and password.
Step 3. Touch Your Library
It's a tab in the lower-right corner of the screen.
Step 4. Touch Playlists
This tab is at the top of the screen (iPhone) or the center of the screen (Android). Once touched, your Spotify playlists will be displayed.
- You can also choose " Albums ” on this page.
- If you want to download every song in the library on your Android device, touch the option “ Songs ”, then skip the next step.
Step 5. Select a playlist
On the " Playlists " page, touch the playlist with the songs you want to download.
If you open the page " Albums ”, select the album you want to download.
Step 6. Touch the gray "Download" switch
It's in the upper-right corner of the screen. Switch color changes to green
which indicates the songs will be downloaded to the Spotify mobile app.
When the song is finished downloading, an arrow icon pointing down will be displayed next to it
Step 7. Listen to Spotify music outside the network
When the device is not connected to the internet, you can open Spotify, touch the tab “ Your Library ”, access the location of the music you want to listen to, and touch the song to start listening to it.
Method 2 of 2: Via Desktop Computer
Step 1. Make sure you have a Spotify Premium subscription
You can only download songs for offline listening if you subscribe to Spotify Premium.
Your device must also be connected to a WiFi network in order for you to download Spotify music. Songs cannot be downloaded over the cellular data network
Step 2. Open Spotify
Click (or double-click) the Spotify app icon, which looks like three black horizontal bars on a green background. The Spotify main page will be displayed if you are already logged in to your account.
If not, click the " LOG IN ”, then enter your Spotify account email address and password.
Step 3. Select a playlist
In the " PLAYLISTS " section on the left side of the window, click the name of the playlist you want to download.
Unfortunately, you can't download albums on the Spotify desktop app
Step 4. Touch the gray "Download" switch
It's in the middle of the window. Switch color changes to green
which indicates the songs will be downloaded to the computer.
When the song is finished downloading, an arrow icon pointing down will be displayed on its right side
Step 5. Listen to Spotify music outside the network
Whenever your computer isn't connected to the internet, you can open Spotify, click the downloaded playlist, and click the play icon or " Play " on the left side of the song to play it.
Tips
- Spotify allows Premium users to download (maximum) 3,333 songs on three platforms. This means that you can download a maximum of 9,999 songs via computers, tablets and smartphones.
- While you can technically listen to unlimited songs offline, you'll still need to connect your device or computer to the internet at least once a month for Spotify to reload the library and update the app. Otherwise, you could lose your account information so make sure you connect your device to the internet regularly.
