This wikiHow teaches you how to change Skype's display name, the name other users see in their contact list. You can change your Skype display name through the Skype website and the Skype mobile app. However, the name cannot be changed through the Skype program for Windows and Mac computers. You also can't change your Skype username without creating a new account.

Method 1 of 2: Via Skype Website
Step 1. Open the Skype website
Visit https://www.skype.com/ via a browser. If you are already signed in to your Skype account, your username will appear in the top right corner of the page.
If you are not logged in to your account, click the “ Sign in ” in the upper-right corner of the screen and enter your email address and password.
Step 2. Click your name
Click the name that appears in the top right corner of the page. After that, a drop-down menu will be displayed.
If you are already signed in to your Skype account, skip this step and the next
Step 3. Click My account
It's at the top of the drop-down menu.
Step 4. Scroll down and click Edit profile
It's in the blue column on the left side of the page. After that, the profile page will be opened.
Step 5. Click Edit profile
It's in the top-right corner of the profile page.
Step 6. Edit your name
Type your first and/or last name into the appropriate text fields at the top of the "Personal information" section.
Step 7. Click Save
It's a green button in the top-right corner of the page. After that, the new name will be saved and applied to the Skype account. The next time you open Skype when you're connected to the internet, you'll be able to see the new name.
Method 2 of 2: Via Skype Mobile App
Step 1. Open Skype
Tap the Skype app icon, which resembles a white “S” on a blue background. After that, the Skype main page will open if you are already logged in to your account.
If you're not logged into your Skype account/profile, enter your email address (or username/phone number) and account password before continuing
Step 2. Touch the profile photo
This circular photo is at the top of the screen. After that, the profile menu will be opened.
Step 3. Touch "Edit" button
next to the name.

Step 4. Change your name
Use the keyboard displayed on the screen to change your name as needed.
Step 5. Touch
It's to the right of the name. After that, the changes will be saved and applied as your Skype display name on all platforms, including desktop.
