Method 1 of 3: Using Android
Step 1. Run Facebook on Android device
The icon is a white "f" in a blue box that's usually found in the app drawer.
Step 2. Touch
It's in the top-right corner of the Facebook page.
Step 3. Scroll down the screen and tap Account Settings
This option is at the bottom of the menu.
Step 4. Touch Public Posts
To find it, you may have to scroll down a bit from the screen.
Step 5. Tap on Public located under “Who Can Follow Me”
From now on, anyone who opens Facebook can follow your public posts without being friends.
- If you want followers to be able to comment on your posts, tap that too Public which is under the “Public Post Comments” option.
- To allow followers to comment on other details on your profile, such as cover photo updates, profile photos, and biographies, scroll down and tap Public under “Public Profile Info”.
Method 2 of 3: Using iPhone or iPad
Step 1. Launch Facebook on iPad or iPhone
The icon is the white "f" in the blue box that's usually on the home screen.

It's in the lower-right corner of the Facebook page.
Step 3. Scroll down the screen and tap Settings
This option is at the bottom of the menu.
Step 4. Touch Account Settings
Step 5. Touch Public Posts
Step 6. Tap Friends under “Who Can Follow Me? From now on anyone who opens Facebook can follow your public posts without having to become friends.
- If you want followers to be able to comment on your posts, tap that too Public which is under the “Public Post Comments” option.
- To allow followers to comment on other details on your profile, such as cover photo updates, profile photos, and biographies, scroll down and tap Public under “Public Profile Info”.
Method 3 of 3: Using a Computer
Step 1. Launch a web browser and visit
If you are not logged into your account, enter your login details in the empty space in the upper right corner, then click Login.
Step 2. Click the down arrow
It's in the blue bar at the top of the Facebook page, to the left of the "?" sign. Doing so will open a menu.
Step 3. Click Settings
This option is at the bottom of the menu.
Step 4. Click on Public Posts in the left column
Step 5. Choose people who can follow you
There is a button in the “Who Can Follow Me” section on the right-hand panel. By default, the setting will be set to Friends. Click the button and select Public so that anyone who opens Facebook can follow your public post.
- If you want followers to be able to comment on your posts, choose that too Public which is under the “Public Post Comments” option.
- To allow followers to comment on other details on your profile, such as cover photo updates, profile photos, and biographies, scroll down and select Public under “Public Profile Info”.
