Besides being a delicious and practical snack, bananas are also good for the skin because they contain nutritious vitamins such as vitamins A, B, and E. In addition to their vitamin content, bananas also contain acids that help shed dead skin cells. With just three ingredients, you can make a practical face mask to rejuvenate and moisturize dry and dull skin.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Classic Banana and Honey Face Mask
Step 1. Make a mask mixture
Cut the bananas into small pieces and mash them in a bowl with a spoon or fork until the fruit clumps are smooth. Add 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. Stir all ingredients until evenly mixed.
- Bananas provide nutrition for the skin. Honey acts as a skin moisturizer, and lemon juice acts as a natural astringent and exfoliant.
- These face masks may be runny and spill easily so make sure you wear clothes that can get soiled.
Step 2. Apply the mask on the face
Rub the banana mask on your face and use your fingers to massage the mask all over your skin. Leave the mask on for 10-20 minutes.
Make sure your face is clean and free of make-up products before using the mask. Clean your face with a mild soap before using the mask to remove makeup and dirt from the skin's surface
Step 3. Rinse face
Clean your face using warm water and a washcloth (without soap) after leaving the mask on the skin for 10-20 minutes.
- You can clean your face with a banana mask, but don't let the benefits be lifted or "floundered" by the rinse water.
- If you want to reuse the mask in the future, create a new mask. Natural face masks like this usually last for about a week if stored in the refrigerator. However, just in case it's a good idea to make a new mask every time you want to do treatment.
Method 2 of 3: Making Banana Mask Variations
Step 1. Make a banana mask for acne-prone skin
Mash the ripe bananas in a small bowl until they become a smooth mixture without lumps. Add teaspoon of baking soda and teaspoon of turmeric powder. Mix the three ingredients until smooth. Apply the mask on the face and leave it on for 10-15 minutes. After leaving, rinse your face with warm water, and pat dry by patting a towel on your skin.
- Since turmeric leaves stains, apply the mask on your face using a make-up brush. Thus, the stain or yellow color of the turmeric will not stick and dirty the fingers.
- You may feel a slight sting from the baking soda if you have sensitive skin. Don't worry though, because baking soda won't pose any serious harm. If you're unsure of your skin's reaction to baking soda, test the mixture on a small, inconspicuous area of your face first before applying the mask all over your face.
- Limit the use of masks. Using a mask 2-3 times a week is enough. However, try not to use it more than 3 times a week because this mask is an exfoliating mask. Don't let your skin shed too often.
Step 2. Make a banana mask for wrinkled skin
Mash one ripe banana and mix it with 1 teaspoon of orange juice and 1 teaspoon of plain yogurt. Use a fork to make a smooth mixture with a consistent consistency. After that, smooth and massage the mask on the face, then leave it on for about 15 minutes. Rinse your face after 15 minutes, and pat a clean towel over your face to dry it.
- Yogurt helps reduce the appearance of pores and tightens them. Meanwhile, orange juice helps to refresh skin cells and smooth out obvious lines.
- Use this mask while standing in front of the sink so you can catch any spills or drops from your face.
Step 3. Make a banana mask for dry skin
Mix ripe banana with 120 grams of oatmeal (oatmeal), 1 teaspoon honey, and 1 egg yolk in a bowl. Stir all the ingredients using your fingers or a fork until the mixture is smooth. Apply the mask on the face and leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse your face with warm water and pat dry by patting a clean towel on your skin.
- Do not use this mask if you have allergies to poultry and egg products.
- Egg yolks work to lock in moisture and make the skin look smooth.
Method 3 of 3: Making Honey Mask Variations
Step 1. Make a honey mask for acne-prone skin
Mix 3 teaspoons of raw honey with teaspoon of cinnamon in a small bowl. Apply the mixture on your face and leave it on for 20-30 minutes before rinsing your face with warm water.
If you have sensitive skin, cinnamon can be irritating. To find out if the skin is negatively affected by cinnamon, test the mask mixture on a small area of the skin to see how it reacts
Step 2. Make a honey mask for dry skin
Combine 1 teaspoon of avocado, 1 teaspoon of plain yogurt, and 1 teaspoon of raw honey in a small bowl. Mix the required ingredients with a fork or fingers until smooth. Apply the mask on your face and let it soak into the skin for about 20 minutes. After leaving, rinse your face with warm water.
The avocado fat and fat from whole milk yogurt help moisturize the skin, while the yogurt's lactic acid promotes collagen production and evens out skin tone
Step 3. Experiment with honey masks to treat sensitive skin
Mix 1 teaspoon of aloe vera gel with 1 teaspoon of raw honey in a small bowl. Apply the mixture on your face and leave it on for 20-30 minutes. Rinse your face with warm water, and pat it dry with a towel.
Aloe vera gel helps reduce redness and irritation that people with sensitive skin often experience
Step 4. Make a honey mask to remove dark spots and scars
Mix 2 teaspoons of raw honey with teaspoon of lemon juice. Apply the mixture on your face and leave it on for about 20 minutes. Rinse your face and pat it dry with a clean towel.
- Lemon juice is a natural exfoliant that helps reduce the appearance of scars and dark spots on the face.
- However, keep in mind that you have to use this mask for a long time to see significant changes.
- Lemons contain citric acid which can sting if used too often. If you have sensitive skin, be careful with the citric acid content in the masks you use. To avoid injuring your own skin, do a mixture test on the back of your hand to see how your skin reacts to citric acid.
Tips
Since the mask you are making is quite sticky, make sure you hold your hair behind your head using a hair tie or headband to prevent the hair from sticking to the mask.
