Sometimes a new pimple suddenly appears on the face, even though you have to attend an important event the next day. In such a situation, of course you want to get rid of that pimple as soon as possible. You can still try to get rid of acne quickly, maybe overnight, but there's no guarantee it's effective for all types of acne or all skin types.
Step
Part 1 of 2: Applying the Right Facial Cleansing Routine
Step 1. Don't over-wash your face
You might think you can get rid of pimples overnight if you scrub your skin a lot the night before. In fact, washing your face too often can actually cause dry and irritated skin. If your efforts to get rid of acne leave your skin too dry, you're more likely to wake up the next day with more pimples. Washing your face twice a day can be a good option to keep your skin clean.
Even if the pimple doesn't go away completely, washing your face with the right frequency will reduce the redness around the pimple, helping to disguise its presence. On the other hand, over-washing your face can cause dry skin to look redder and irritated
Step 2. Use a mild, oil-free cleanser
In addition to washing your face with the right frequency, make sure you use the right cleanser. Soaps that are harsh or contain harsh chemicals can also dry out the skin. Dry skin actually stimulates oil production, which can lead to more breakouts. Instead, use a cleanser that is mild, oil-free and made from a dermatologist-recommended ingredient such as benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid.
In addition to being “oil-free”, cleansers may also be labeled “nonacnegenic” (formulated not to cause acne or make it worse) or “non-comedogenic”. Both labels don't matter because they mean the product won't clog pores
Step 3. Use clean fingertips to scrub the skin
Washcloths, mesh sponges, or other scrubbing tools that exfoliate the skin can also cause irritation and redness because these toiletries are too abrasive for acne-prone skin. There is no need to scrub the skin with the tool, just use a clean fingertip to gently clean the skin in a circular motion. Gently dry the skin with a clean towel; do not rub it because doing so can cause irritation to the area of the skin with acne.
Besides being abrasive, many exfoliants are left in a damp state and hanging on bathroom shelves, making them a breeding ground for bacteria. Using equipment to scrub your skin like that will often spread the pore-clogging bacteria that you really want to get rid of
Step 4. Treat problem areas with acne medication
Although you are advised not to treat facial skin in a way that is too intense, there is nothing wrong with treating the specific problem area. Look for an acne cream with benzoyl peroxide that is specifically designed for acne-prone areas and use it according to the instructions on the product. Apply the pimple cream directly to the pimple after cleansing the skin. You can use a clean finger or a cotton swab to apply the cream.
Step 5. Use a lotion that contains moisturizer
If the rest of your skin feels very dry after cleansing, apply a moisturizing lotion, except for the area that has been smeared with benzoyl peroxide. You should choose a lotion that says "non-comedogenic" to make sure it won't clog your pores and prevent more breakouts. You can get acne lotion at most stores.
Part 2 of 2: Keeping Skin Clean and Getting Enough Rest
Step 1. Don't pop the pimple
While sometimes you can get rid of pimples in no time, one of the most difficult problems to deal with is healing facial scars overnight. Popping or popping a pimple not only spreads the bacteria in the pimple, it also causes an abrasion to the face, and it will take longer to heal than if you let the pimple go away on its own.
Step 2. Make sure not to wear heavy cosmetics the previous days
If today you realize that you want to have clear skin from acne the next day, avoid cosmetics. You might feel like you're naked without the blemish you use to cover up your pimples, but trying to keep your skin clean and blemish-free ahead of time will give the pimple a chance to heal and disappear.
- One general rule of thumb about cosmetics to look out for is that foundations and cream blushes tend to clog pores, whereas light, powdery, mineral or water based cosmetic products tend not to do that. For cleansers, you can look for cosmetics labeled “oil-free”, “nonacnegenic”, or “non-comedogenic”. However, leaving your face completely bare of cosmetics is still the best option if you want to get results faster.
- If you absolutely can't avoid cosmetics the day before, clean your skin thoroughly to get rid of any cosmetic residue as early as the evening. No matter how tired you are, be sure to wash your face before going to bed, because leaving the makeup on overnight will guarantee you wake up with more pimples, not less.
- Like the sponge you use to scrub your face, cosmetic applicators are usually very dirty. Discard any soiled applicators and use a cotton ball or cotton swab to apply cosmetics if possible. If you need to use the applicator, wash it regularly and replace it with a new one as often as possible.
Step 3. Don't use oily products
Oily products, especially hair products, can end up on your face and can make acne problems worse or cause new pimples to appear overnight. As much as possible avoid oily hair products ahead of time and protect your face when you spray hair spray or apply gel to your hair.
Step 4. Don't let your hair cover your face
Even hair that's clean without using any products has natural oils that can clog pores. You may feel more comfortable hiding behind your hair all day, especially if you don't use make-up as it tries to clear your skin of acne quickly, but the best way to get rid of pimples overnight is not to let your hair cover your face.
Step 5. Don't touch your face
It may be tempting to touch your pimple all day long, but dirty, greasy fingers won't help you get rid of it fast. So, try to keep your hands away from your face. These tips also apply to cell phones. Many people don't think about it, but we touch our phones with dirty hands all day long and keep them in our pockets and bags which are also dirty and a breeding ground for germs. By sticking your phone to your face, you transfer germs from your phone to your face. If you want to get rid of pimples quickly and prevent new ones from forming, it's a good idea to take advantage of the loudspeaker feature or use text to communicate.
Step 6. Do not use a tanning bed
The belief that UV rays can dry out pimples and can be a miracle cure to get rid of pimples overnight is a myth. So, avoid basking in the sun or rushing to use a tanner tube. In fact, excessive sweating from the sun or the use of potentially pore-clogging darkening oils can exacerbate the acne problem you're trying to treat.
If you have consulted a dermatologist to treat your skin and were given medication, especially those containing retinoids, your skin will become more sensitive to UV rays than normal skin. Therefore, UV light is a poor choice
Step 7. Don't use toothpaste
Many people have heard the myth that toothpaste can be a great miracle cure to get rid of pimples overnight, but that's not true. Although toothpaste contains ingredients such as baking soda and hydrogen peroxide which can help reduce acne breakouts, it is not formulated in such a way that it will be more effective than standard facial cleansers and benzoyl peroxide, which are specifically manufactured to treat acne problems. In addition, the pH of toothpaste and other ingredients is likely to irritate the skin and cause redness around the area to be treated, and may make the pimple appear more prominent.
Step 8. Get a full 8 hours of sleep
Sleep is a natural recovery time for the body. Research shows that cell turnover takes place eight times faster when you are asleep. So, giving your skin 8 hours of sleep is a good way to help improve skin condition.
Step 9. Continue with your usual skin cleansing routine
If you wake up the next day and the pimple is still on your face, don't panic. You tend to overlook the pimple than other people. Remember, acne is not the end of the world. Continue the facial cleansing routine as described here. If your skin condition doesn't completely heal within three months, consider seeing a dermatologist and asking for a prescription for stronger acne medication.
Tips
- An unbalanced diet can affect the oil-producing glands in the skin. However, the notion that oily or sugary foods can cause acne is a myth. Unfortunately, even if you try to detox your body overnight to improve your skin's condition, it will have very little effect.
- Before going to bed, take a piece of ice and rub it on your face to close the pores after cleansing.
